Job summary

RRD in Smyrna, TN, is hiring for a warehouse associate to handle material movement and storage within our warehouse operations. The role requires following instructions, loading/unloading materials, and using equipment like forklift trucks and pallet jacks.

Training will cover safety, inventory control, and process adherence. The position offers a competitive hourly rate ($14.79–$18.09) with potential overtime and benefits as part of a comprehensive compensation package.

Qualifications

• Understanding general warehouse layout and stock codes to place or pull items per standard procedures.
• Ability to stock, move, arrange, and rotate items as instructed.
• Complete forms for stock description, quantity, unit of issue, and labeling for incoming/outgoing materials.
• Proficient with shrink-wrap and strapping equipment, powered lift equipment, pallet jacks, manual dollies, and hand tools used in material handling.
• May operate forklift truck when required.

Responsibilities

• Reads work orders or verbal instructions to identify materials to be moved.
• Feeds, removes, stacks, or moves printed sheets, signatures, or other in-process product to/from equipment.
• Loads/unloads materials onto pallets and prepares for transport; secures with straps as needed.
• Transfers materials from storage to designated areas using hand trucks or similar devices.
• Counts, weighs, and records units moved on the production sheet; tags materials as needed.
• Assembles bundles using banding equipment and may operate related machinery.
• Mentors new and existing employees on policies and best practices to improve performance.

Job Description

• Reads work order or follows verbal instructions to ascertain materials to be moved
• May feed, remove, flex, jog, and stack printed sheets, folded signatures, labels or other in-process product to and from the equipment in the area assigned
• Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand. May load materials into trucks and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools
• Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck, electric dolly, or other device
• Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheetAttaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers
• Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together, using banding machine and clincher
• May use automated equipment and/or operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products
• Training and mentoring new and existing employees, ensuring consistent knowledge of company policies, procedures, and best practices to improve team performance and productivity.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of general warehouse layout, item identification codes, basic warehouse procedures, and the storage areas in order to be able to place or pull paper stock, signatures and materials in accordance with standard procedures
• Able to stock, move, arrange, and rotate items in accordance with operating instructions
• Able to complete appropriate forms relating to stock description, quantity, unit of issue, and the labeling requirements for incoming and outgoing materials
• Good skill in the use of shrink-wrap and strapping equipment, powered lift equipment, pallet jacks, manual dollies, carts or hand trucks and hand tools used in material handling tasks such as hammers, pliers, strapping and stretch wrapping tools and equipment, tape fasteners, metal band sheers and related equipment
• May require skill in operating/using forklift truck

Additional Information

The salary range for this role at the noted RRD location is $14.79 - $18.09 / hour. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs. Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay.
