Qualifications

Job description

Overview

The Material Handler 2 reports to the Material Supervisor and performs logistics tasks related to receiving, storing, and issuing materials, equipment, and other items for the M.C. Dean warehouse and suppliers. The role applies knowledge of design-build electrical industry materials and follows Logistics Service Center processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Receiving, verifying, and counting stock items and maintaining records of data as appropriate.
• Verifying inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock.
• Investigating inventory discrepancies and reconciling errors.
• Packing and unpacking items to be stocked on shelves in material storage areas.
• Marking stock items using identification tags, stamps, electronic marking tools, and other labeling equipment.
• Cleaning and maintaining supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure safety compliance.
• Determining proper storage methods based on stock location, turnover, environmental factors, and facility capabilities.
• Storing stock items in an orderly, safe, and accessible manner within warehouses, storage rooms, and lay down areas.
• Examining and inspecting stock items for wear or defects and reporting any damage to supervisors.
• Maintaining documented records of stock usage and stock handling equipment.
• Developing working knowledge of internal software systems including the Material Requisition System, Equipment Transfer System, and Procurement Mobile.
• Demonstrating understanding of M.C. Dean processes related to logistics and responding effectively to inquiries.
• Assisting with training and mentoring less experienced staff when appropriate.
• Maintaining a high level of productivity by completing tasks within scheduled deadlines.
• Using advanced reporting and tracking functions within MS Excel.
• Communicating verbally and in writing using MS Outlook in a professional manner at all levels.
• Providing assistance to other project staff as needed.

Qualifications

Education:

• 3+ years of demonstrated experience with a High School Diploma / GED, or
• 2+ years with an Associate's Degree

Proficiency with electrical design-build industry materials and equipment, and Logistics Service Center processes and procedures at M.C. Dean, including but not limited to:

• Intermediate level MS Excel and Outlook proficiency
• Strong reporting and tracking skills, with a track record of accuracy, high productivity, professional work ethic, and safety compliance
• Ability to manage critical tasks independently (e.g., controlling consignment programs, tool management, lay down area management, loading/unloading zones)
• Forklift and telehandler experience/certification desired

Abilities:

• Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly; capable of loading, unloading, operating equipment, and transporting materials following safety protocols
• Ability to relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance
• Work at various heights up to 60 feet; climb and balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders
• Physical ability to walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead
• Good vision (may be corrected), color vision, and ability to hear and communicate in English
• General problem recognition and logical reasoning abilities
• Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze information and make connections
