Tech Ord, a division of AMTEC Corporation, is seeking a Material Handler to move explosives and solvents between bulk storage, production, and the warehouse. The role requires operating company vehicles and a forklift, documenting movements, and coordinating with production teams to meet energetic material needs.

Candidates must meet safety and regulatory requirements, including ITAR, and obtain a forklift certification if not already certified.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident per ITAR restrictions.
  • Minimum age 18 to work at facility.
  • Must obtain and maintain a driver’s license.
  • Ability to become forklift certified on hire.

Responsibilities

  • Transport explosives and solvents to production and warehouse.
  • Deliver finished product to bunkers or warehouse.
  • Operate forklift and drive company vehicles as required.
  • Document movements and maintain records during material transfers.
  • Communicate with Production Leads to assess material needs.
  • Manage hazardous waste disposal tasks when applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

The Material Handler will transport explosives and solvents to production buildings and the warehouse for shipment and ensure all items transported are documented.

Essential Job Functions
  • Delivers explosives and energetic materials from bulk storage to production buildings.
  • Delivers finished product from production to the bunkers or warehouse.
  • Drives company vehicles and operates forklift as required.
  • Fills solvent containers that are used in production.
  • Communicates with Production Leads and Production employees to determine their explosive and energetic material needs.
  • Responsible for some hazardous waste management functions. Performs physical waste disposal activities (e.g., moving containers, collecting samples, deactivating materials, etc.).
  • Documents by recording information when moving materials throughout the facility.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States (ITAR restrictions).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to work at this facility.
  • Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for all employees of Tech Ord.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must obtain and maintain a driver’s license to operate company vehicles.
  • Ability to become forklift certified upon hire.
  • Ability to communicate and document effectively in English.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow specific written and verbal instructions.
  • Function Specific RCRA training upon hire.
  • Ability to work effectively with other employees as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task in support of end-result/goal.

While Performing The Duties Of This Job
  • Ability to talk and hear in order to communicate with others.
  • Seated work for up to 20% of the workday.
  • Frequently required to stand and/or walk both indoors and outdoors.
  • Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel as well as reach with hands and arms.
  • Lifting of up to 50 pounds is required. Must be able to move materials by lifting, pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds and/or move greater than 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus when viewing a computer monitor.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives.
  • Ear protection is required as identified throughout the facility.

Where required employees must wear a minimum of 50 percent cotton clothing including undergarments to mitigate electrostatic discharge (ESD). Employees must also wear company issued safety footwear.
