Magna International in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Material Handler to support plant safety, quality, and productivity. You will operate a forklift, manage material movement, and assist in inventory control to minimize downtime and meet customer needs.
The role requires teamwork, adherence to procedures, and the ability to work across zones with minimal supervision. Training includes forklift licensing and OSHA-aligned safety programs.

Job Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY: Responsible for supporting safety, quality, and productivity while adhering to KAMTEK’s plant standards and upholding the Magna Employee’s Charter.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:
Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies. Understand and promote Magna’s philosophies and Employee’s Charter. Establish and maintain communication with other team members and support departments. Follow Standard Operating Procedures established for each work station you are supporting. Responsible for ensuring daily forklift inspections are performed and recorded. Move, relocate, load/unload parts either by manual operation or forklift, as required, to avoid production downtime and meet customer needs. TLCQQ – Tagging Correct, Loaded Properly, Closed Properly, Quantity Correct, Quality Parts. Operate a forklift in a manufacturing environment safely by avoiding endangerment to self or others. Operate inventory scanner and cycle material based on FIFO standards and monitor inventory levels (Min/Max). Ensuring material is only placed in its assigned locations and placed according to the area layout. Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing processes. Monitor and maintain good housekeeping (maximize downtime opportunities). Follow all plant safety policies and procedures. Must be able to work unsupervised. Must be a team player and willing to work in any zone or area in which you are trained or being trained. Forklift utilization from system >70%. Willing and open to support areas of need outside on Homearea, open to flexible support.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
SKILL (Ability to do the job)
-Ability to work in a team environment or independently to perform duties with little supervision.
-Ability to communicate with team members on all shifts and possess good mathematical and organizational skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Some of the physical demands for this position include the ability to lift 40 pounds and being able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time in a manufacturing environment.
EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED
Some of the equipment and tools used are basic departmental hand tools and personal protective equipment. Forklift, scanning and banding equipment (as Material Handler).
KNOWLEDGE
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED required.
TECHNICAL TRAINING: Successfully obtain KAMTEK forklift license.
OTHER: Safe work practices, general knowledge of mechanical operations.
WORK EXPERIENCE
WHAT TYPES? Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Forklift operation and product delivery.
HOW MUCH? 6-12 months.
WHAT AREAS OF TRAINING ARE REQUIRED?
New Hire Orientation, OSHA Required Training, Product and Process Overview, Understanding the Charter, Lean Manufacturing Overview, 5S & Visual Management, Business Management System, BGM Label Standards, Tip/Nozzle Change Procedure, Robot Fundamentals, and Basic Workstation Panel views. Forklift operator and scanner training (as Material Handler).
