Hood Container Corporation is seeking a qualified Material Handler to join our evening shift in Walker, MI. You will operate a sit-down forklift, assist with shipping and receiving, and help ensure production runs smoothly by keeping materials flowing and properly documented.

The role requires 2+ years of forklift experience in production or distribution, ability to read a tape measure, and strong teamwork.

Qualificações

• 2+ years’ experience as forklift operator in production or distribution environment.
• Able to read, write, communicate efficiently, and follow instructions on factory masters.
• Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.

Responsabilidades

• Complete and document a sit-down forklift inspection form before the start of the shift and when operating a new forklift.
• Verify counts as materials leave or enter the warehouse/production area.
• Work with shipping and receiving on incoming and outgoing materials.
• Ensure that all jobs are pulled and ready for the next shift’s production run.
• Record materials removed from a production line on the correct form and ensure proper banding/wrapping for storage.
• Perform periodic routine maintenance checks on the lifts and turn in maintenance work orders for repairs.
• Maneuver forklifts safely in busy industrial environments.
• Safely stack and unstack large quantities of goods onto shelves or pallets.
• Move goods from storage areas to loading areas for transport.
• Unload deliveries and relocate goods to designated storage areas.
• Ensure forklift driving areas are free from spills or obstructions.
• Maximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at capacity and speed.
• Adhere to daily production schedule.
• Comply with company policies and safety and housekeeping procedures.

What We’re Searching for

Evening Shift 4pm - 2am, Monday - Thursday; overtime as needed on Friday. $3 an hour shift premium.

Qualified Sit-Down Forklift Operator/Material Handler to assist in coordinating the day-to-day activities in the shipping and receiving offices, including providing customer service to the truck drivers and the production floor. Strong organizational, teamwork, dependability, accountability, and self-starter skills will lead you to success in this role.

How You Will Contribute:

• Complete and document a sit-down forklift inspection form before the start of the shift and when operating a new forklift.
• Verify counts as materials leave or enter the warehouse/production area.
• Work with shipping and receiving on incoming and outgoing materials
• Ensure that all jobs are pulled and ready for the nextshift’sproduction run
• Must ensure that all materials being removed from a production line are accurately recorded on the correct form, and that all materials have been properly banded and/or wrapped to ensure that they will “hold up” in the warehouse.
• Performs periodic routine maintenance checks on the lifts.Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
• Maneuvering forklifts safely in busy industrial environments
• Safely stacking and unstacking large quantities of goods onto shelves or pallets
• Moving goods from storage areas to loading areas for transport
• Unloading deliveries and safely relocating the goods to their designated storage areas
• Ensuring that forklift driving areas are free from spills or obstructions.
• Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
• Adhere to daily production schedule.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
• Additional duties may be assigned by management.

What it takes:

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years’ experience as forklift operator in production or distribution environment.
• Able to read, write, communicate efficiently, and follow instructions on factory masters.
• Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
• Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate.
