Job summary

Havco Vonore in Vonore, TN is seeking a Material Handler to support Rough End operations. You will follow safety rules, handle material flow, and assist in quality, maintenance, and CI activities in a high-paced environment.

The role requires adherence to SOPs, ability to work overtime, and strong teamwork across shifts. High school diploma or GED is required, and prior manufacturing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and manage time efficiently.

  • Must maintain integrity and interact effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Understanding of 5S methodology.

Responsibilities

  • Follow OSHA and HAVCO safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a consistent flow of material and stop when quality issues are found.
  • Respect and enforce safety and quality requirements for the area.
  • Perform quality inspections per SOPs and report issues to the Supervisor.
  • Participate in Maintenance and Continuous Improvement activities as needed.

POSITION TITLE: Material Handler POSITION LOCATION: Vonore, TN

POSITION REPORTS TO: Rough End Team Leader POSITION SUPERVISES: N/A

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

Material Handler employees are assigned to Rough End areas of operation and are required assist in all activities regarding safety, quality, operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement. They are required to follow Havco Vonore’s mission statement, values, and instructions from Management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety
  • Must follow all OSHA and HAVCO safety rules/regulations.
  • Help to enforce all rules and regulations pertaining to safety.
  • Identify and aid in the corrections of any safety hazards notify the immediate Supervisor with any safety issues or concerns
  • Must be able to move material safely using proper lifting techniques.
  • Identify and aid in the corrections of any unsafe behavior through co-worker awareness.
Quality
  • Must know and understand all customer’s requirements assigned; area pertaining to quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Must be able to meet internal and external customer’s requirements on any critical to quality (CTQ) testing required of their area.
  • Must perform daily, weekly, and monthly quality inspections in their assigned area pertaining to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
    • Identify and aid in the corrections of any quality issues, notify the immediate Supervisor with any quality issues or concerns
Operation
  • Must be able to maintain a constant and consistent flow of material.
  • Must stop production of material when quality issues are identified.
  • Must stop equipment when it is identified to be unsafe to run.
  • Must be able to work any required overtime, including weekends.
  • Must be capable of training and acting as the back-up operator.
  • Must be able to work safely at fast pace.
  • The employee is required to maintain regular, reliable and predictable attendance and punctuality.
Maintenance
  • Participate on Operator Bases Maintenance (OBM) Teams.
Continuous Improvement
  • Must be willing to participate on and understand Root Cause Analyses (RCA) practices.
  • Must have an understanding of Continuous Improvement (CI) Structure.
  • Must be willing to participate on AD-HOC teams to eradicate or minimize issues/losses.
  • Must be willing to participate on Continuous Improvement (CI) Teams and Pillars
EDUCATION

Must possess a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).

WORK EXPERIENCE

Manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Must be able to stand on your feet 8 – 12 hours/day.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, turn, and lift 10-50 lbs. routinely.
  • Must possess the ability to work at a fast, safe pace consistently.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demand requirements as set forth in the Work STEPS analysis.
