Job summary

Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia is seeking a Warehouse Associate to receive, sort, and transfer donated goods from the dock to the designated departments. You will help move items to the correct areas and support leadership in daily operations.

You will operate material handling equipment, load trailers, maintain a safe work environment, and provide outstanding service to staff and donors in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; combination considered.
• 1 year experience in a related field required.
• No professional certifications required for this position.
• The associate is not required to drive as part of their job duties.
• The associate will be required to pass a criminal background check.
• Material Handling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sort donated goods for transfer to designated areas.
• Use material handling equipment to move donated goods.
• Load trailers and containers as needed.
• Follow procedures for safe disposal and recycling of waste.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas inside and outside of the facility.
• Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers and assist with other duties as needed.

To safely and efficiently receive and transfer of donated goods and related items from the dock to the designated departments or areas. Provide additional assistance to leadership as needed.

Essential Duties

(Other duties within the scope of this position may be assigned.)

1. 1. Sorts donated goods into the proper container for transfer to designated areas.
2. 2. Safely and efficiently uses material handling equipment to transport donated goods to the appropriate area.
3. 3. Loads trailers and containers when required.
4. 4. Follows established procedures for the safe disposal of waste, adhering to all recycling procedures.
5. 5. Maintains good housekeeping of assigned areas inside and outside of the facility.
6. 6. Provides outstanding customer service to internal and external customers and performs other duties as assigned by team management to include filing in for other positions when needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The associate in this position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Education/Experience/Certificates/Security Clearance

• • High School Diploma or GED preferred. Will consider a combination of education and work experience.
• • 1 year experience in a related field required.

Physical Demands/Work Environment/Work Conditions

• • The associate is required to lift 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 50 pounds.
• • The associate works in an environment with frequent exposure to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc.).
• • The associate must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as business needs dictate.
