Material Handler – Must-Have Requirements
- Strong work ethic with the ability to perform physically demanding work
- Ability to lift and move up to 80-100 pounds as needed
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Reliable attendance and positive attitude
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Willingness to work overtime and occasional Saturdays
- Forklift experience is a plus, but training is available
Material Handler – Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable Material Handler to join our yard and warehouse team. This position is responsible for pulling, staging, bundling, organizing, and loading building materials for customer orders and deliveries. The ideal candidate enjoys hands‑on work, takes pride in maintaining an organized work environment, and is committed to providing excellent service while working safely in a fast‑paced setting.
Material Handling
- Pull, bundle, stage, and load building material orders accurately and efficiently
- Handle materials including steel, rebar, lumber, mesh, concrete accessories, fasteners, and other construction products
- Verify materials, quantities, and product types using order information
- Organize and separate customer orders for efficient loading and delivery
Warehouse & Yard Operations
- Load company trucks and assist customers and contractors with material loading
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, banding tools, and other equipment when authorized
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe yard, warehouse, and staging areas
- Report damaged materials, inventory shortages, or safety concerns promptly
Teamwork & Safety
- Work safely around forklifts, trucks, and heavy equipment
- Assist with inventory movement, yard organization, and general warehouse duties
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, drivers, customers, and supervisors
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Material Handler – Additional Qualifications
- Previous warehouse, yard, or construction material handling experience preferred
- Forklift experience is a plus
- Knowledge of building materials, lumber, steel, concrete products, or construction supplies is beneficial
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Self‑motivated with a commitment to safety and quality
