Job summary

Univar Solutions in Toledo is hiring a Material Handler to manage shipping, receiving, and storage of bulk chemicals in the tank farm. You will ensure compliance with labeling laws, inspect equipment, and maintain warehouse stocks, supporting a safe and efficient operation.

The role requires operating a terminal tractor and forklift, following cGMP guidelines, and handling hazardous materials with proper protective equipment. Strong physical endurance and attention to safety are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate a terminal tractor (yard mule).
• Ability to operate an industrial powered lift truck or forklift according to procedures.

Responsibilities

• Shipping and receiving of bulk chemicals in the tank farm; provide prompt and accurate filling, packing, and shipping of orders.
• Ensure compliance with State and Federal labeling and shipping laws for merchandise shipped from warehouse.
• Inspect and check tank farm equipment and facilities for good operating condition.
• Maintain warehouse stocks, supplies, and equipment.
• Conduct monthly inspection of plant fire control system.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse floor.
• Prepare monthly list of empty containers, distressed stock, and non-usable materials; submit to Warehouse Manager.
• Exchange workers with warehouse sections as needed.
• Complete inspections and paperwork for hazardous waste generation and pickup transport.
• Report issues to Warehouse or Operations Manager.

Position Title:

Material Handler

What You’ll Do:

• Shipping and receiving of bulk chemicals in the tank farm; provides services for the prompt and accurate filling, packing, and shipping of tank farm customer orders.
• Ensures compliance with all State and Federal labeling and shipping laws and regulations on merchandise shipped from warehouse.
• Inspects and checks tank farm equipment and facilities to ensure that all equipment is in good operating condition.
• Ensures the maintenance and protection of warehouse stocks, supplies, and equipment.
• Make monthly inspection of plant fire control system.
• maintain warehouse stocks after they are received and ensures that aisles and warehouse floor is cleaned and cleared of merchandise.
• prepare a monthly list of all empty containers, un-repairable pallets, distressed stock, and miscellaneous non-usable materials and submit to Warehouse Manager.
• Exchange worker with warehouse sections as needed
• Complere inspections and paperwork associated with hazardous waste generation and waste pickup transport.
• Any problems with regard to tank farm operation should be brought to the attention of Warehouse or Operation's Manager

What You’ll Need:

• Ability to operate a terminal tractor (yard mule)
• Ability to operate an industrial powered lift truck or forklift according to company procedures and governmental regulations
• Knowledge of cGMP requirements as it pertains to FDARP as applicable to the facility
• Ability to use and maintain respiratory protection equipment
• Ability to learn proper methods for handling hazardous materials and wastes, with training.
• Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:
• Physical ability to lift and carry at least 100 pounds
• Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
• Test negative on the company’s drug tests
• Exposure to fumes, dirt, noise and hazardous chemicals on a daily basis. May require safety equipment and/or precautions
