Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret work orders, BOMs, and routing sheets.
• Forklift certification a plus.

Title: Material Handler - Fabrication

Position Summary:

The Material Handler plays a critical role in supporting fabrication operations by ensuring timely, accurate, and safe movement of raw materials, components, and finished goods. This position works closely with production teams, inventory control, and logistics to maintain optimal material flow and minimise downtime.

General Responsibilities:

Material Movement & Staging

• Transport raw materials, parts, and assemblies to designated fabrication workstations
• Stage materials according to production schedules and routing sheets
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely

Inventory & Documentation

• Perform cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies
• Tag, label, and document material transactions using ERP or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
• Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing materials

Workflow Support

• Collaborate with fabrication leads to anticipate material needs
• Assist in kitting jobs based on BOMs and routing requirements
• Monitor material usage and report shortages or excesses

Quality & Safety

• Inspect materials for damage or defects before delivery to fabrication
• Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements
• Support 5S and lean manufacturing initiatives in material storage areas

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred
