Job summary

Coastal Logistics Group in Savannah, GA is seeking a Material Handler to support daily warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory handling, and load coordination. You will help move goods accurately and safely in a busy distribution center.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with shipping and receiving, unload trucks and verify orders.
  • Read orders to determine items to move and ship.
  • Maintain a safe, organized warehouse.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Assemble products as needed and participate in cycle counts.
  • Verify load data before marking loads as delivered for accounting accuracy.
  • Monitor daily pick-ups and deliveries for on-time arrival.
  • Support team with other duties as needed.

Job description

Job Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for supporting daily warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory handling, and load coordination. This role ensures the accurate and timely movement of goods while maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient warehouse environment. The Material Handler plays a key role in supporting operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to sales orders, and distributing orders for processing
  • Read and interpret customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, and requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed, and/or shipped
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment to ensure accessibility for employees and customers
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures; perform all tasks in a safe and compliant manner
  • Assemble products as needed and participate in cycle counts and physical inventory processes
  • Take call from drivers to confirm delivery status; verify and validate load data prior to marking loads as delivered for accounting accuracy
  • Monitor daily pick‑ups and deliveries to ensure shipments arrive on time and in good condition
  • Assist with other tasks and duties as needed to support the team
Qualifications

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends based on business needs
  • Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram‑based instructions and apply critical thinking
  • Previous dock or warehouse experience within the transportation or logistics industry
  • Experience loading and unloading trailers
  • Experience using handheld scanners or warehouse management systems
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 75 pounds regularly
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods
Work Environment
  • Conditions: The role involves working in a warehouse setting with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels, requiring physical stamina.
  • Hours: Must be available to work flexible hours, including potential overtime and weekends.
Work Schedule
  • Days: Monday through Saturday
  • Hours: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
