Job summary

Merchants Metals in Portland, OR is seeking an experienced Material Handler/forklift driver to efficiently receive, store, and move materials.

You will ensure safety, assist with yard upkeep, and help meet daily production and shipping needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Forklift experience is required.
• Pack/shrink-wrap pallets experience is a plus.
• Be able to read a measuring tape.

Responsibilities

• Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, or containers.
• Operate forklift and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
• Label, sort, wrap, and pack materials as needed.
• Read work orders and determine work assignments or material needs.
• Transport products to storage areas and stack/store inventory.
• Record units moved on daily production sheets or tickets.
• Maintain equipment storage areas and protect inventory.
• Carry tools from storage or trucks as needed.
• Follow safety procedures when performing tasks with equipment.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Work overtime as required.

Experience Material Handler Wanted!!

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Material Handler/forklift driver is responsible for accurately receiving and storing products to meet company standards of safety, productivity, and quality. This position is also responsible for moving materials to storage areas as well as the maintenance and upkeep of the yard.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, or containers.
• Operate Forklift and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently while meeting productivity and quality expectations.
• Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, and packing of materials.
• Read work orders and determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
• Transport products to storage areas using proper equipment and efficiently stack and store product
• Record numbers of units handled or moved using daily production sheets or work tickets.
• Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items
• Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected.
• Carry needed tools or supplies from storage or trucks and return them afterward.
• Follow established safety procedures when performing tasks and/or working with equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Must be able to work overtime as required.

Schedule: Mon-Friday 7:30 AM-4:30 PM

Pay-$22-$25

REQUIRED EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift Experience
• Pack/shrink-wrap pallets experience a plus!
• Be able to use and read a measuring tape
• Building material handling is a plus!
