Job summary

Responsibilities

• Review and place orders for raw material and stockroom inventory utilizing MRP and Min Exception reports for quantity and delivery requirements.
• Expedites orders and requests as needed.
• Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
• Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid.
• Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.
• Maintains procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
• May approve invoices for payment.
• May expedite delivery of goods to users.
• Perform Purchasing and Inventory Control related functions.
• Work order kitting.
• Material transactions.
• Physical inventory.
• Shipping and receiving as required.
• Maintain the inventory integrity, organization and cleanliness of stockroom

Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for managing a combination of purchasing, procurement, and traditional inventory control tasks to support production operations. This hybrid role involves analyzing MRP reports, generating purchase orders, estimating market values, and maintaining accurate procurement records. Additionally, the position requires hands-on stockroom management, including forklift operations, heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, work order kitting, physical inventory tracking, and shipping/receiving to maintain the utmost inventory integrity and warehouse cleanliness.

Job Tasks

• Requesting MRO supplies, long-lead stockroom inventory, outside services and capital expenditures as required
• Review and place orders for raw material and stockroom inventory utilizing MRP and Min Exception reports for quantity and delivery requirements
• Expedites orders and requests as needed
• Estimates values according to knowledge of market price
• Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid

Job Requirements

• Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with various departments within the organization
• Must be proficient in MS Excel and accounting software. MAS500 experience a plus
• Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50lbs
• Uses forklift to move materials
• Must be capable of handling stock with care
• Frequently required to balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crouch and occasionally climbs ladder
