Pay: Starting at $19/hr., pay based on experience.
Hours:2nd Shift Monday–Thursday. 10-hour shifts; start time is flexible and typically between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The Material Handler supports production and warehouse operations by moving, storing, and tracking raw materials and finished goods throughout the facility. This position supplies production equipment with required materials, moves finished products into inventory, picks customer orders, and assists with shipping activities as needed.
This is a hands-on position that requires strong attention to inventory accuracy, safe forklift operation, and the ability to keep materials moving efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Supply production equipment with required raw materials and move finished goods to designated storage locations.
- Scan and accurately record inventory and material movements in company systems.
- Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move, load, and unload materials throughout the facility.
- Pick customer orders and verify product identity, quantity, and condition for accuracy.
- Palletize, shrink-wrap, weigh, and prepare orders for shipment.
- Perform cycle counts, bin audits, and other inventory verification activities.
- Replenish picking locations and return unused materials to designated storage areas.
- Assist with staging outbound shipments and provide backup shipping support as needed.
- Communicate with production and warehouse team members to ensure materials are available when needed.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse and production work areas.
- Follow all applicable company policies, procedures, safety requirements, inventory procedures, and equipment operating procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and other required material-handling equipment.
- Strong attention to inventory accuracy, order accuracy, and detail.
- Ability to understand and follow inventory, picking, and shipping procedures.
- Ability to accurately use scanners and company inventory or ERP systems.
- Basic computer skills for entering and maintaining inventory and shipping information.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize changing production needs
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with production, warehouse, and shipping personnel.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment.
Qualifications
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Material-handling experience preferred.
- Warehouse, shipping, receiving, or manufacturing experience preferred.
- ERP or inventory management system experience preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required company forklift authorization/certification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods throughout the shift.
- Frequently bend, stoop, twist, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
- Frequently lift, carry, and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently enter and exit forklifts and other material-handling equipment throughout the shift.
- Safely move throughout warehouse and production areas and work around forklifts, moving machinery, and industrial equipment.
- Work is performed in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with moderate to high noise levels.
- Regular exposure to paper and cardboard materials, paper dust, moving machinery, forklifts, stored materials, and industrial equipment.
- May be exposed to odors associated with printing inks and other materials used in the manufacturing process.
- Required to follow established safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
