Job summary

Pregis in Grand Rapids, MI is hiring a Material Handler to move goods, keep the warehouse organized, and support material flow. You will operate a sit-down forklift, participate in daily inventory, and ensure materials are stored and moved efficiently on a 12-hour rotating schedule.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, manufacturing experience is a plus, and overtime may be required to meet business needs. Benefits include 401K with company match and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a forklift to stage material, load/unload trucks and transfer material within plant.
• Keep the warehouse clean and organized daily for easy material location.
• Perform daily inventory and report variances to appropriate teams.
• Coordinate storage and movement of materials and scrap as needed.
• Follow 5S guidelines and safety procedures at all times.
• Overtime may be required as business demands.

Job Description

Material Handlers are responsible for moving goods throughout the facility, assisting in maintaining the warehouse properly, and keeping materials organized.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a forklift to stage material, load trucks, unloading trucks and transfer material within the plant and within departments as needed.
• Help keep the warehouse clean and organized daily to ensure product can be located easily and efficiently.
• Perform daily inventory as needed to provide information for any necessary adjustments. Communicate information to the appropriate people.
• Coordinate scrap material storage as needed.
• Oversee changes to the department storage floor plan.
• Communicate information to the appropriate people.
• Coordinate storage locations.
• May be required to perform material move transactions in Business One as needed.
• Keep work areas clean following 5S guidelines.
• Other miscellaneous responsibilities as deemed necessary.
• Ability to work Overtime as business demands – overtime is not guaranteed and should not be considered a part of your guaranteed Full-time hours.

Physical Requirements

• Sitting (Constantly – up to 12 hours).
• Standing (Constantly – up to 12 hours).
• Walking up/downstairs (several times daily).
• Walking (Constantly up to 12 hours).
• Lifting/Carrying (regularly up to 12 hours – a minimum of 75 lbs.).
