Job summary

Goodwill-Industries-of-Kentucky is seeking a Material Handler at our Elizabethtown retail store for full-time work. The role involves sorting and handling donated materials, loading/unloading trucks, packaging for transport, and preparing items for delivery to other centers.

The position requires lifting up to 50 lbs, reliable transportation, and a willingness to work a rotating schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Training is provided for equipment use where applicable.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Demonstrates strong customer service when greeting donors and customers.
• Keeps accurate records and reports.
• Works with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in loading and unloading of trucks.

• Keep dock area clean, organized and clutter-free.
• Assist with operation of textile baler and tow motor after equipment training (if applicable).
• May assist with weighing bales and maintaining baling processing records (if applicable).
• Provide customer assistance with loading and receiving donations.
• Work on rotating schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Job Purpose

The Material Handler will sort, classify and handle all donated materials and deliver to various departments.

Essential Job Functions:

• Assists in loading and unloading of trucks.
• Packages and bundles material for transporting.
• Prepares material for delivery to other centers.
• Assures dock area remains clean, organized and clutter-free.
• May assist with operation of textile baler and tow motor after equipment training is received, if applicable.

Please Note : Goodwill prohibits minors (under the age of 18) to operate equipment such as balers, compactors, and forklifts in accordance with the child labor laws.

• May assist with weighing bales and maintaining baling processing records, if applicable.
• Provides customer assistance with loading and receiving donations.
• Works on rotating schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Reports To : Operations Supervisor, Asst. Dir. of Transportation & Logistics, or Retail Manager.
