Job summary

The Budd Group in Clayton, AL is seeking a full-time Material Handler to support our site operations with a set schedule. This role involves safe handling of materials, packaging and labeling, and responding to customer needs promptly.

You will operate site equipment (forklift, pallet jack), manage waste handling duties, and maintain accurate records while adhering to PPE requirements. A valid driver's license is often required.

Qualifications

• Experience handling hazardous or biohazardous materials is preferred.
• Ability to operate site equipment safely and per requirements.
• Familiarity with PPE protocols and waste handling procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely package, label, and load biohazardous waste.
• Operate equipment (forklift, pallet jack) as required by site.
• Respond to material handling needs across on-site and remote locations.
• Ensure PPE is worn and PPE protocols are followed at all times.
• Properly dispose of medical waste where applicable and document processes.
• Maintain logs (weights, temperatures, testing) accurately.
• Complete required documentation and signatures for destruction.
• Record units delivered and locations for materials and supplies.
• Comply with site communication standards and procedures.

Job description

Title: Material Handler

Hours: Mond and Friday 2pm to 10:30pm Saturday and Sunday 6am to 6:30pm

Pay: $15.00/hr

SUMMARY This is a full time position that works a set schedule within a 24 hour workweek. This job is responsible for the proper handling of materials on a site by performing the essential duties and responsibilities. Also, includes responding to customer specific needs and requests in a timely fashion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Mayinclude any or all of the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Safely execute all activities with the proper packaging, labeling, and loading of biohazardous waste.
• Able to operate equipment based on site requirements
• Responds to material handling needs in association with solid waste and recycling duties on-site and remote locations.
• Comply with all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in every waste handling area as required.
• Ensure that all medical waste is properly disposed of, where applicable.
• Verify that all logs (Chem Clav, Weights & Temperatures, Spores testing, etc.) are complete, accurate and adequately documented.
• Complete proper documentation, mandatory signatures and documentation for destruction
• Clear and dispose of recycling material in various locations
• Documents materials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and location of units.
• Adheres to communication standards assigned by site.
• Most sites require a valid driver’s license, forklift, and pallet jack experience.
