Job summary

Generant, headquartered in Butler, NJ, is seeking a Material Handler for 1st shift (Mon-Fri 07:00am - 03:30pm). You will unload bar stock with an overhead crane, prepare paperwork, chamfer bars, print tags, and move stock to racks using a forklift, with potential QC on incoming stock.

Responsibilities include cycle counting, data entry, and maintaining a clean work area. The role supports CNC operations and requires teamwork and a safety‑minded approach.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be computer literate.
• Basic Math Skills including measuring with tape and/caliper, calculator.
• Must be able to communicate in English.
• Must follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• Must frequently lift up to 75 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
• Standing/walking most of the day; some sitting; good vision required.

Responsibilities

• Unload bar stock from delivery trucks using the overhead crane.
• Receive bar stock in accordance with Bar Stock Receiving Procedure.
• Chamfer bars as needed.
• Learn to operate CNC machinery.
• Enter data into computer system.
• Print Material Tags and label stock accordingly.
• Color code bar ends when necessary and load stock onto racks with a forklift.
• Maintain accurate counts of bar stock through cycle counting.
• Monitor Bar Stock Requirements report to ensure material is available for current jobs across shifts.
• Return wooden boxes to supplier and perform QC inspection of incoming stock when required.
• Maintain a clean working environment and assist operators in moving material as needed.

We are growing and looking to add a Material Handler to our team. This is a 1st Shift role; Monday - Friday 07:00am - 03:30pm

Job Summary

The primary function of the Material Handler is to unload bar stock material from the truck using the overhead crane, prepare receiving paperwork, chamfer bars (if necessary), print Material Tags, label and move stock to the material stocking racks. In addition, the Material Handler is also responsible for cycle counting, moving bar stock with the forklift, as needed and maintaining a clean work environment. May perform QC inspection of incoming bar stock.

• Receive bar stock in following the Bar Stock Receiving Procedure
• Chamfer bars
• learn to operate CNC machinery
• Enter data into computer system
• Print Material Tags
• Label all bar stock with Material Tags
• Color code bar ends, when necessary
• Load bar stock onto racks using the forklift
• Maintain accurate counts of bar stock through cycle counting
• Monitor the Bar Stock Requirements report to ensure material is available for current jobs throughout all shifts
• Return wooden boxes to supplier
• May perform QC inspection of incoming bar stock
• Maintain clean working environment
• Perform the job with minimal supervision
• Available to assist operators in locating and the moving of material based on requirements
• Perform other assignments as required by the Vice President CNC Operations

• Must be able to carry out detailed, written and verbal instructions in English
• Must frequently lift up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds
• When performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk, use hands to finger or handle or feel objects and tools or controls and talk or hear
• Employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms
• Employee is occasionally required to sit
• Specific vision abilities require close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Material Handler operates machinery to chamfer bar ends, an overhead crane to unload trucks and a forklift to move bar stock in a manufacturing environment.
• Noise level is usually moderate for a manufacturing plant
