Job summary

FMI | solutions for the most extreme places in the universe is seeking a Material Handler to join our Supply Chain team at our Maine facility. The role supports production, material deliveries, shipping/receiving, interfacility transport, and Hazmat movement across a multi-building campus.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, verifying CoC, delivering materials, coordinating interdepartment deliveries, and maintaining storage area housekeeping.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience operating a forklift.
• Hazmat Transportation Certification (preferred) or willingness to obtain.
• Understanding of supply chain concepts (POs, shop floor travelers).
• Ability to lift items and containers.
• Ability to multitask and pay close attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Basic carpentry skills.
• Data entry experience.
• Eligibility or interest in obtaining CDL is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload trucks with forklift or pallet jack.
• Verify shipping label, packing list and CoC.
• Deliver material to department or warehouse storage location.
• Coordinate deliveries between departments and locations as needed.
• Maintain housekeeping in material storage areas.
• Assist in cycle counts and inventory control projects.
• Engage with other departments, vendors and drivers with a positive attitude.
• Provide backup support for shipping and receiving coordinators.
• Operate company box truck with a clean driving record.

FMI's manufacturing facility has been a leading solutions provider of high temperature materials and composites for more than 55 years, serving the Department of Defense and NASA. The focus in Maine is on multidirectional reinforced Carbon/Carbon (C/C) and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) that enable high-temperature components such as: thermal protection systems, re-entry vehicle nose tips as well as rocket motor throats and nozzles.
Our materials are being used on ground-breaking space initiatives such as the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and the heat shield for NASA's Mars 2020 mission, important missile programs, airfoils in commercial and military jet engines, and as lightweight armor for U.S. military ground vehicles.

Your role: FMI is seeking a Material Handler to join our Supply Chain team! The Material Handler will be accountable for supporting the production facilities, material deliveries, shipping/receiving, interfacility transporting, and Hazmat movement throughout an extensive multi-building campus.

Job Responsibilities

• Load/unload trucks with forklift or pallet jack

• Responsible for maintaining housekeeping efforts in material storage areas throughout the facility

• Clean driving record – this position requires use of company box truck

What We Need From You
