Job summary

UNICON International Inc. is seeking a Material Expeditor in Columbus, OH to manage expediting for assigned suppliers, track shipments end-to-end, and support recovery plans to minimize schedule impacts.

You will coordinate with suppliers, planners, and project teams, ensuring material readiness aligns with site dates and ERP/MRP data accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, logistics with relevant experience.
• 3–4 years expediting/materials/logistics experience or associates degree with related background.
• Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Own expediting for assigned suppliers and commodities; secure firm dates and plans.
• Identify risks early and drive recovery actions (split shipments, premium freight).
• Coordinate with production, planning, and shipping to align readiness with site needs.
• Liaise with carriers, brokers, and warehouses for routing and delivery docs.
• Resolve issues with timely escalation ( Holds, partial shipments, customs).
• Support claims/chargebacks related to late delivery or freight costs.
• Synchronize dates with Buyers, Planners, Site Materials, Project Managers.
• Maintain daily line of balance updates and hotlist management.
• Produce weekly on-time-delivery and past-due reports; suggest improvements.

Position Overview

The Material Expeditor performs intermediatelevel expediting to secure ontime delivery of materials and services for projects and O&M operations. The role manages supplier commitments, tracks shipments endtoend, supports recovery plans for late orders, and partners crossfunctionally to minimize schedule impacts.

What You Will Be Doing

• Expediting & Recovery: Own expediting for assigned suppliers/commodities; obtain firm promise dates and shipment plans.
• Identify risks early; drive recovery actions (pullins, split shipments, alternate sources, premium freight approvals).
• Supplier & Logistics Management: Coordinate with supplier production, planning, and shipping to align material readiness with site need dates.
• Liaise with carriers, brokers, and warehouses to ensure proper routing, documentation, and delivery appointments.
• Issue & Risk Management: Resolve intermediate issues (quality holds, partial shipments, customs/document errors) with timely escalation.
• Support claims and chargebacks related to late delivery or premium freight when applicable.
• CrossFunctional Alignment: Synchronize dates with Buyers, Planners, Site Materials, and Project Managers; maintain a single source of truth in ERP/MRP.
• Support outages/turnarounds with daily lineofbalance updates and hotlist management.
• Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Maintain accurate PO status; produce weekly supplier on-time-delivery (OTD) and pastdue line reports.
• Recommend process improvements (leadtime accuracy, confirmation cadence, supplier scorecard inputs).

Whats Needed

• Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in supply chain/business/logistics or associates degree with three (3) years relevant experience or four (4) years expediting/materials/logistics experience.
• Skills: Working knowledge of ERP/MRP, shipment documentation such as bill of lading (BOL), advance ship notice (ASN), and standard shipping terms (INCOTERMS), followthrough, stakeholder communication, basic data analysis (Excel or BI).
