Job summary

AssuranceAmerica is looking for a skilled Material Damage Appraiser to join our Claims team in Tampa. You will review auto property damage estimates, negotiate with body shops, and ensure fair costs while maintaining strong relationships with shops.

The role requires independent work, attention to compliance, and ongoing adoption of new repair techniques to support timely resolutions and accurate totals.

Qualifications

• 5 years of P&C insurance background with at least 3 years of appraisal experience.
• Significant knowledge of repair and total loss techniques and statutory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct appraisals from photos and assess/ negotiate repairs with body shops.
• Develop and maintain relationships with body shops.
• Document estimate summaries in the claims system.
• Redline and adjust estimates accordingly.
• Ensure prompt and timely estimate resolution per guidelines.
• Evaluate totaled vehicles per company guidelines.
• Handle special projects as needed.
• Adhere to compliance training to meet laws.
• Keep up with new repair techniques and industry innovations.
• Hold and maintain required licenses.

Material Damage Appraiser

This position is responsible for ensuring the overall quality of auto property damage claims handling, which includes tasks such as appraisal review, subrogation, salvage, total loss, and Special Investigations Unit (SIU) investigations related to auto property claims. The role requires a high level of expertise in estimating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving property claims. The candidate should be capable of working independently with minimal supervision and act as a resource for other claims personnel.

About YOU

Required

• Undergraduate Degree.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization’s physical premises.
