Job description

Coordinates and expedites the flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors' priorities. The Material Coordinator reviews production schedules, confers with department supervisors to determine material requirements or overdue items, locates material, requisitions needed items, and establishes delivery sequences based on job order priorities and material availability. They arrange for in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules, coordinate repair and assembly of materials, and verify the type of material delivered to production departments.

Responsibilities include:

1. Monitoring and controlling the movement of materials and parts along conveyor systems using remote-control panels.
2. Calculating the amount of material needed for specific job orders.
3. Compiling reports on the quantity and type of materials on hand.
4. Transporting materials between departments using hand or industrial trucks.
5. Maintaining production records to locate materials in process, using manual or computerized systems, and maintaining employee records.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or technical training preferred.
• Minimum of two years' experience in a warehouse/distribution environment.
• Proficiency with warehouse procedures, including receiving, shipping, and inventory control.
• Ability or training to operate warehouse material handling equipment such as stock chasers, electric carts, stretch wrappers, pallet jacks, and forklifts.
• Proficiency in inventory software, Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office 2010 or later.
• Knowledge of security measures to prevent product loss and control access.
• Understanding of safety procedures, including hazardous material handling and protective clothing.
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds, with heavier items moved using equipment or assistance.
