Job summary

BMW Manufacturing Company in Spartanburg, SC invites a student intern/Co-op to contribute to integrated supply chain solutions, focusing on material control, transportation, and delivery assurance.

You will engage in KPI dashboards, data analytics, and digitalization projects, collaborate with purchasing and Gemba teams, and help develop department KPIs while learning SAP basics, Power BI, and SQL in a hands-on environment.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing or have completed a degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Candidate must have strong interpersonal and technical skills.
  • Power BI, SQL, and familiarity with SAP basics are preferred.
  • Must attach unofficial transcript and have studied full-time on-site for the term.

Responsibilities

  • Develop KPI dashboards and visualize data insights.
  • Support Gemba initiatives with internal teams and purchasing.
  • Contribute to VPS target picture and digitalization projects.
  • Assist in creating and improving department KPIs and work structures.
  • Support continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives.

Description:

We connect the network with integrated supply chain solutions to safeguard production. Ensuring parts supply at the right time, right place, quantity and quality for continuous production. The Focus of our department is Material Control, Transportation Control and Delivery Assurance. We are the Gatekeepers of the supply chain for the ultimate driving machine.

The qualified intern/Co-op should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:

  • Steer the internal Gemba process.
  • Support the development of supplier Gemba together with purchasing department.
  • Support VPS COC to create the VPS target picture.
  • Support implementation and development of work organization structure.
  • Development of department KPIs.
  • Assists with obsolete cost tracking, E/E flashing status, emergency order tracking and analysis.
  • Smart Container Management.
  • KPI Dashboards, Data Analytics and Visualization.
  • Sustainability (Reduction of CO2 emissions, e.g. E-Trucks).
  • Continuous Improvement Projects.
  • Digitalization Projects.
  • Value Stream Mapping.
  • Part Defect Reduction.
  • Digitalization of Shipments.
  • Robotic Process Automation.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing or have completed a degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Candidate must have strong interpersonal and technical skills.
  • Power BI.
  • SQL.
  • Data Lake is a bonus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • SAP basics.
  • Independent & detail-oriented work.
  • Organizational Skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).
  • Have enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).
  • Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
  • MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT.
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
  • THE WORK TERM DATES ARE January 11th - May 14th, 2027.
