Job summary

Catalent is hiring a Material Control Associate III to support GMP materials control and warehousing at our Harmans, MD site. The role covers receiving, inspecting, distributing, and inventory control of GMP materials, including critical components like cell banks and bulk proteins.

You'll work with QA to support quarantine, release, deviations, CAPA, and Change Control processes, while driving continuous improvement and compliant documentation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and 4+ years of warehousing experience.
  • Certification in handling hazardous materials required.
  • Experience coordinating warehousing with QA/QC and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Manage GMP material receipt, inspection, distribution, reconciliation, and inventory control.
  • Review and maintain materials control documentation for compliance and accuracy.
  • Oversee labeling control and accountability to maintain traceability.
  • Receive, store, and control GMP materials including cell banks and bulk proteins.
  • Support QA in material quarantine, release, deviations, CAPA, and Change Controls.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Generate and maintain GMP documentation and SOPs.
  • Assist audits/inspections and address findings.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness, safety, and material integrity.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and train junior staff.

About Site

Our FDA-licensed, state-of-the-art CGMP manufacturing facility for Gene Therapies is located on the Harmans/BWI campus. The campus, featuring two manufacturing facilities is located 5 miles from the Baltimore Washington International (BWI) airport and 13 miles from our Baltimore location. The campus is close to Washington, DC’s I-270 Technology Corridor, top universities, and government agencies.

About Site

Our FDA-licensed, state-of-the-art CGMP manufacturing facility for Gene Therapies is located on the Harmans/BWI campus. The campus, featuring two manufacturing facilities is located 5 miles from the Baltimore Washington International (BWI) airport and 13 miles from our Baltimore location. The campus is close to Washington, DC’s I-270 Technology Corridor, top universities, and government agencies.

The Harmans/BWI-1 EMA and FDA approved facility, at approximately 200,000 sq. ft., houses 10 CGMP manufacturing suites, fill/finish, central services, testing labs, and a warehouse.

The Harmans/BWI-2 facility, at approximately 145,000 sq. ft., is under development and will house 8 CGMP manufacturing suites and cold storage warehousing.

Both facilities support Phase 3 through commercial manufacturing of advanced therapeutic products including AAV and other viral vector-based therapies and vaccines.

Position Summary

We have an opportunity for a Material Control Associate III to join our team and support GMP materials control and warehousing operations for a Phase II/III GMP biopharma manufacturing facility. This role involves handling materials receiving, processing, inventory control, and distribution of products. You will also assist in training peers and ensuring compliance with GMP standards. This position is key to maintaining smooth operations and supporting the production of life-enhancing products.

7am-7pm on a 2-2-3 rotating schedule

The Role
  • Manage GMP material receipt, inspection, distribution, reconciliation, and inventory control in accordance with approved procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and maintain materials control documentation, including material specifications, receipt inspections, inventory records, and request forms to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Oversee labeling control and accountability processes to maintain traceability and adherence to GMP standards.
  • Receive, store, and control GMP materials and company-generated inventory, including cell banks, bulk proteins, and other critical materials.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to support material quarantine, release activities, and compliance with deviation, CAPA, and Change Control processes.
  • Assess Materials Control operations, identify process improvement opportunities, and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Generate, revise, and maintain GMP documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures and related quality records.
  • Support internal, regulatory, and client audits/inspections by preparing documentation, addressing findings, and demonstrating compliance.
  • Maintain warehouse organization, cleanliness, safety, and raw material integrity through adherence to established quality and safety controls.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support project objectives, train junior staff, and provide materials management expertise for GMP and pre-clinical operations.

The Candidate
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma with at least 4 years of relevant experience in warehousing operations
  • Experience and understanding of coordinating and integrating warehousing activities with manufacturing and other departments (QA, QC) to maintain schedules
  • Experience in shipping materials requiring special conditions such as temperature control and hazardous materials
  • Experience with electronic inventory control systems and proficiency in MS Outlook and Excel
  • Documented training and certification in handling hazardous materials
  • Mature professional capable of independent work
  • Strong desire to learn
  • Extended amount of time walking, standing, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
Pay

The anticipated hourly rate for this position in MD is $26.44 – $31.25 Plus Bonus. The final hourly rate offered to a successful candidate may vary, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
