Job summary

Bell Textron Inc. in Fort Worth is seeking a Material Bonder B to perform routine bonding operations on aircraft parts, working from blueprints or instructions. You will mix bonding agents, apply them, prepare areas, and perform minor rework as needed, using jigs, fixtures, and hand tools on the First Shift.

This role requires ITAR compliance and US person eligibility; onsite work in Texas. Relocation is unavailable; worksite is Onsite in Fort Worth.

Qualifications

• 6 months’ experience in similar bonding or aircraft assembly roles.
• Able to read simple blueprints, drawings or oral instructions.
• Knowledge of bonding agents and material preparation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare aircraft parts for the bonding process.
• Assemble, locate and align parts from blueprints or instructions.
• Clean, treat surfaces and apply bonding agents per procedure.
• Perform minor rework, fitting or trimming as required.
• Use jigs, fixtures and bonding equipment.

What You'll Be Doing As a Material Bonder B

• Performs routine or semi-route operations required to prepare aircraft parts or articles for the material bonding process.
• Working from simple blueprints, drawings or oral instructions, assembles, locates and aligns parts or articles in correct position and proper sequence.
• Cleans, scrapes, sands, or grinds, production or experimental rotor blades or airfoil sections using hand tools or powered equipment, performing any combination of the following tasks:
• Cleans and wipes parts with cleaning cloths, apply appropriate metal cleaning or treatment materials.
• Remove excess adhesive or squeezed out materials.
• Locates, masks and tapes off and prepares areas to be filled.
• May be required to dry chemically treated or filled areas per established procedures.
• Removes tape and other similar protective materials and sands or grinds according to pre-established finish dimensions.
• Checks travelers, MDARS, Rework or other forms to ensure all required operations are performed.
• Selects and mixes proper bonding agent and applies it according to standard procedure.
• Does minor rework, fitting or trimming as required.
• Make up pressure bag and seals edges for leaks or may use prepared bag.
• Uses various production aids such as jigs, fixtures and necessary tools.
• May assist Material Bonder “A”.

Skills You Bring To This Role

• Hand tools, jigs, fixtures, clamps, templates, measuring instruments, safety gloves, bonding agents, portable power grinding and sanding equipment, measuring devices, etc.

Experience & Other Requirements:

• Six (6) months’ experience performing work similar to above description or an employee in order to qualify must possess the experience requirements as called out in the Job Description or must show a minimum of six (6) months’ experience at Bell or six (6) months experience prior to employment at Bell in any one or a combination of the following Job Classifications:
• Bench Hand Aircraft “A” Painter, Aircraft “A”
• Bench Hand Aircraft “B” Painter, Aircraft “B”
• Cleaner, Paint Booth Patternmaker
• Plaster Modeler Plaster Patternmaker
• Upholsterer “A” Aircraft Assembler “A”

Or

• Successful completion at the Advanced Composite Fabrication Course (T220) (only offered at Bell).
