Job summary

Paycom - ATS is seeking a MAT Registered Nurse (RN) to provide direct patient care for individuals with substance use disorders in a correctional healthcare setting. You will administer MAT medications, conduct assessments, monitor responses, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, compliant care delivery.

The role requires an active RN license in the state, 1+ year of nursing experience (corrections or addiction treatment preferred), and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license in the state of employment.
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience; corrections, behavioral health, or addiction treatment preferred.
• Current BLS certification.
• Proficient in medication administration, injections, and phlebotomy.
• Strong clinical assessment, documentation and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work in a secure correctional environment and follow safety protocols.
• Familiarity with MAT protocols and controlled substances regulations.

Responsibilities

• Administer MAT medications per provider orders and facility protocols.
• Perform nursing assessments to monitor withdrawal, response, and side effects.
• Draw venipuncture and prepare lab specimens; track results.
• Document all care in the EHR accurately and timely.
• Collaborate with MAT providers, nursing staff, and security for coordinated care.
• Educate patients on treatment adherence, safety, and harm-reduction strategies.
• Maintain medication inventory and comply with DEA/state/facility rules.
• Participate in quality improvement, audits, and MAT-related reporting.
• Assist with discharge planning to support continuity after release.
• Support staff training on MAT procedures and compliance.
• Perform other nursing duties to ensure smooth program operation.

Position SummaryThe Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care to individuals receiving treatment for substance use disorders in a correctional healthcare setting. This role is responsible for administering MAT medications, conducting clinical assessments, monitoring patient response, and collaborating with the MAT provider and interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and compliant care delivery.Key Responsibilities·Administer MAT medications per provider orders and facility protocols.Perform nursing assessments to monitor patients for withdrawal symptoms, treatment response, and potential side effects.Conduct venipuncture and prepare laboratory specimens as directed by the provider; track and follow up on results.Accurately document all patient care activities, assessments, and medication administration in the electronic health record (EHR).Collaborate with MAT providers, nursing staff, behavioral health clinicians, and security personnel to ensure coordinated, continuous care.Educate patients on treatment adherence, safety, and harm-reduction strategies.Maintain accurate medication inventory and ensure compliance with DEA, state, and facility regulations regarding controlled substances.Participate in quality improvement activities, audits, and reporting requirements related to MAT services.Assist with discharge planning to support treatment continuity after release.Support staff training and education on MAT procedures and compliance standards.Perform other nursing duties as required to ensure smooth program operation.QualificationsActive, unrestricted RN license in the state of employment.At least one (1) year of nursing experience; prior corrections, behavioral health, or addiction treatment experience preferred.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Proficiency in medication administration, injections, and phlebotomy.Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and critical thinking skills.Ability to work effectively in a secure environment while adhering to all safety and security protocols.Familiarity with MAT protocols, controlled substance handling, and applicable federal/state regulations.Physical and Functional DemandsAbility to stand, walk, and provide patient care for extended periods.Manual dexterity to safely handle medical equipment and controlled substances.Must be able to lift or move materials up to 50 pounds as needed.Ability to respond promptly to clinical or facility emergencies.Must meet facility security clearance requirements and comply with correctional safety procedures.
