Job summary

Hamlet Comprehensive Treatment Center in Hamlet, NC seeks a Substance Use Counselor to support recovery from opioid use disorder through individual and group counseling. The role emphasizes compassionate care, documentation, and coordinated planning with a multidisciplinary team.

Eligible candidates may hold CADC/LCAS/LCSW/LCMHC credentials and will provide crisis intervention, case management, and treatment planning while coordinating referrals as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in social or health services preferred.
• Degree must include practicum for licensure.
• Experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings.
• Familiarity with MAT (methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone).
• Experience conducting individual and group counseling sessions.
• Knowledge of CBT, MI, and relapse prevention techniques.
• Documentation of clinical notes, treatment plans, and progress.
• Familiarity with state regulatory standards (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission).
• Experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality, compassionate guidance in individual and group counseling.
• Plan, oversee, facilitate, and document patient recovery.
• Co-facilitate group or family sessions as needed.
• Ensure timely and clear documentation of patient care, treatment, and incidents.
• Prepare individual treatment plans for each patient.
• Conduct initial and follow-up assessments.
• Evaluate patient needs and refer to other programs when needed.
• May plan for aftercare for assigned patients.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Perform case management duties and ensure quality care.
• Act as liaison between referral sources and patients.
