Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation seeks a Master Technician for its engineering laboratories on the 1st shift (Mon–Fri, days). The role focuses on test planning, setting up test environments, calibration and efficient testing of HVAC equipment in a safe lab.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • EPA Certification, or ability to obtain EPA Certification.
  • 2+ years of brazing and soldering experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Chiller/HVAC operations or in a lab environment for mechanical/electrical equipment.
  • 5+ years of experience with hand and pneumatic tools, advanced shop mathematics, and precision measuring instruments.

  • Plan and execute engineering projects through test planning and testing.
  • Operate, inspect and maintain HVAC equipment and test setups.
  • Calibrate lab equipment to measure pressure, temperature, flow and electrical readings.

  • Coach team members and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive issue resolution.
  • Maintain lab safety, 5S and overall uptime; support preventive maintenance.

About This Role

Carrier is seeking an experienced and dependable Master Technician in our engineering laboratories. This role is responsible for test planning and test execution. Individuals should be able to set up test environments, set up calibration and drive efficient testing operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in testing and troubleshooting HVAC equipment, as well as maintaining a safe and efficient lab environment. The 1st shift Schedule is: Monday – Friday, Days.

Key Responsibilities

Performs basic to moderately complex technical tasks which contribute to the planning and execution of engineering projects. Operates, inspects and maintains HVAC equipment and test setups. Should be able to work with electrical equipment, including 460-3-60 machinery, with HVAC operation, refrigerant handling / EPA certification. Able to use / Calibrate laboratory equipment to measure pressure, temperature, flow and electrical measurements. Select, connect and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and refrigeration systems on manufactured equipment. Operate/ trouble shoot / calibration, Power Management / VFDs, valves configuration. Should be able to coach team members, collaborate with cross functional team and report out the results / issues to the relevant team to drive resolution. Lab safety, maintenance and uptime Must be an advocate of safe workspace, 5S and champion the corporations EHS policy. Support on lab uptime by reporting any instrument failures and enhance preventive maintenance.

Work Environment

Hands‑on role requiring frequent standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing ladders, and working around moving mechanical equipment. Exposure to refrigerants, compressed gases, and other lab‑specific conditions. Occasional after‑hours or weekend work may be needed to support critical maintenance schedules.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED. EPA Certification, or the ability to obtain EPA Certification. 2+ years of experience Brazing and Soldering. 5+ years of experience in Chiller/HVAC operations, station and chiller and/or 5 years' experience in laboratory environment for mechanical/electrical machinery. 5+ years of experience with hand/pneumatic tools, advanced shop mathematics, complex measuring equipment, precision measuring instruments.

Preferred Qualifications

AS or AAS in related technical field. Technical/Business School Certificate or Skilled Trades Apprenticeship. Technical expert in HVAC design, components and ability to lead / run the chillers. Understanding of close loop control systems, Loop stability. Reading and interpreting complex drawings, schematics, and blueprints. Experience with medium voltage operations, including arc flash and lockout/tagout procedures.

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction in which the applicant is to be employed.

Other Compensation

Thisposition may be entitled to short‑term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
