Michael Foods, Inc. Wakefield facility is seeking a sanitation associate responsible for keeping the department area clean and sanitary.

You will follow established sanitation schedules, perform pre-op inspections and coordinate with the team to maintain food safety and quality throughout shifts. The role requires the ability to work weekends and overtime as needed, with adherence to all safety policies and GMP practices.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills are preferred.
  • Ability to read basic words and numbers is helpful.

Location Description

Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of department area, following sanitation schedule and replaces gaskets when needed.

This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of department area.
  • Accountable for daily, weekly and monthly master sanitation schedules for department area.
  • In charge of daily pre-op inspections.
  • Responsible to follow daily production start-up procedures.
  • Cross-trained in two sanitation jobs.
  • Report any equipment/mechanical problems.
  • Able to use team efforts in inspection of entire area.
  • Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  • Follows sanitation schedule
  • Replaces gaskets
  • Making sure room is in compliance
  • Able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Work independently and as a team
  • Assumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and, incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
  • Adheres to Quality work practices, follows GMP’s, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained. Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
  • Able to work overtime and holidays when needed.
  • Insures regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Less than high school education.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
  • Capability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral form.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral instruction.
  • Must be able to perform multiple tasks at a time (tripping cups, cleaning whites, etc.)
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with others to complete work assignments.
  • Open to change.
  • Positive interpersonal relationships.
  • Able to work independently and with others in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated while also willing to ask questions and seek direction.
  • Displays responsible behavior at work.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Capable of safely lifting 75 lbs. on occasion.
  • Capable to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty and humid environments.
  • Possess the ability to stop and bend while cleaning.
  • Capable to stand on hard surface for most of shift.
  • Able to work with chemicals.
