Job summary

University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) invites qualified applicants for a Master Quality Control Technician at our Warner Robins, GA location. The role focuses on inspection of additively manufactured and cold sprayed parts, generating in-process and final reports, and applying GD&T to technical drawings under supervision of QC staff.

The candidate will work with CMMs, PC-DMIS, and QC teams to support government contracts and potential industrial projects.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 12+ years directly related experience with manufacturing, inspection, quality control or quality system development/management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience creating and running inspection programs using PC-DMIS. Hexagon 201 training at a minimum
  • Experience operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).
  • Experience with GD&T.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Successful collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Effective verbal communication skills with team members at all levels.
  • Ability to relate to, and motivate work associates in the spirit of collaboration, relative to correcting mistakes and preventing them in the future.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect additively manufactured and cold sprayed parts.
  • Produce in process and final inspection reports for machining, post processing and engineering staff.
  • Read blueprints and apply GD&T to verify part conformance.
  • Support government customers, with potential industrial work as needed.
  • Collaborate with quality technicians, CMM programmers and engineers to ensure quality objectives.

Position Summary:

This position is for an inspection technician to support advanced manufacturing technologies. Under the leadership of quality technicians, CMM programmers and quality specialists, this role will support inspection of additively manufactured and cold sprayed parts. This role applies conventional and advanced methodologies to produce in process and final inspection reports for the machining, post processing and engineering staff. A working knowledge of blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is essential. The work will primarily support government customers, but some industrial business may be supported by this position as well.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 12 years directly related experience with manufacturing, inspection, quality control or quality system development/management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience creating and running inspection programs using PC-DMIS. Hexagon 201 training at a minimum
  • Experience operating a Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM).
  • Experience with GD&T.

T5 Minimum Qualifications:
  • all requirement listed for T4
  • A minimum of 15 years directly related experience with manufacturing, inspection, quality control or quality system development/management in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in mechanical engineering technology, Quality Control Technology.
  • Holds certificate in Quality Control or willingness to obtain through this role.
  • Familiar with various manufacturing processes such as casting, CNC machining, forging, heat treat and additive manufacturing for metals and/or plastics.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated at all levels of an organization.
  • Self-motivated and organized with ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated successful collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and time management skills.
  • Ability and flexibility to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with lab environments and adherence to lab policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity or demonstrated hands on experience with various CAD/CAM software packages.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Effective verbal communication skills with team members at all levels.
