Job description

Primus Aerospace has spent over 30 years delivering high-complexity precision machining, fabrication, and assembly for the aerospace and defense industry. We're ITAR-registered and AS9100D-certified, building to print for customers like Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, and General Dynamics.

We are looking for a Master Planner/Scheduler to own production flow at our Lakewood facility — from open sales order to shipped part. You'll translate customer requirements and financial targets into a manufacturing schedule the floor can actually hit, and you'll be the one who catches problems early enough to fix them.

This is a hands-on planning role in a high-complexity, tightly regulated production environment. You'll work closely with production, purchasing, and customers to keep work orders moving and delivery dates on track.

Scheduling & work order management
  • Review open sales orders and run ERP/MRP reports to sequence production orders for efficient manufacturing flow, minimizing changeovers and downtime
  • Generate and release manufacturing work orders, attaching the documentation production needs (prints, specs, customer requirements)
  • Build and maintain short-term production schedules across cells and lines, balancing customer demand, available supply, and operational efficiency
  • Adjust schedules as job type, volume, capacity, or conditions change — you'll rework the plan, not just flag that it slipped Materials & capacity
  • Determine purchasing needs for materials, including long-lead-time and overseas items, and plan shipments in advance to keep the schedule covered
  • Apply replenishment strategies (push/pull) to keep raw materials at optimal levels and maintain safety stock
  • Identify open capacity and flag it so we can negotiate additional customer volume and keep the floor active
  • Support expediting of supplier purchase orders when a schedule is at risk
Cross-functional coordination
  • Participate in daily production stand-ups and floor walks to catch process issues early
  • Run or attend weekly scheduling meetings that keep procurement, the production floor, and customer service aligned
  • Work directly with production managers and operators to resolve scheduling conflicts
  • Partner with engineering, procurement, quality, and shipping to keep product moving through the full production cycle
Customer & reporting
  • Communicate proactively with customers and internal teams on schedule status and delivery dates
  • Build recurring reports that give customers and leadership visibility into production flow and flag anything that could compromise an order
  • Support contingency planning for demand spikes so a surge doesn't derail the broader schedule
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • 3+ years of production planning and scheduling experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and shop-floor manufacturing processes
  • Solid Excel skills
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear, confident communication — you'll be talking to production, purchasing, and customers in the same day
  • A detail-oriented mindset; small errors in a schedule cascade fast
  • The ability to work independently while staying aligned with the broader team

To adhere to U.S. Government international trade regulations, applicant must be a U.S. Citizen. Given our work in aerospace and defense, this role requires access to information subject to ITAR/EAR export control regulations.

At Primus Aerospace, we are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment that supports, respects, and celebrates all individuals.
