This key position is responsible for the coordination of fulfillment activities to support manufacturing at all three KMC facilities. This individual will be responsible for managing, training and leading the planning team; leveraging systems and processes to ensure materials and resources are available; leading capacity planning and inventory level programs. This individual will aggressively seek opportunities for inventory and lead-time reductions, as well as improved on-time delivery performance (OTD).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the production planning and scheduling activities at each location; leader of the planning team.
  • Organize and lead the customer communication processes for target ship dates
  • Lead and direct the planner processes for expedites and prioritization of production schedules to meet critical customer demand requirements.
  • Monitor delivery/production schedules, manage escalation process to ensure high customer delivery performance.
  • Manage OTD dashboard, other metrics as needed
  • Analyze ERP data, develop reporting as necessary to drive appropriate action
  • Drive inventory reductions to improve inventory turns and properly service customer demand requirements. Develop strategies to define and achieve optimal inventory levels of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Oversee the introduction of new parts/projects into manufacturing
  • Lead capacity management processes
  • Provide input and support to Sales team to drive customer alignment of minimum order quantities (MOQ) and lead time with materials and production.
  • Identify and support inventory, lead-time and cost reduction improvements.
  • Coordinate delivery of materials, components and services to support production schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Operations or Supply Chain Management and a minimum of five years of production planning experience in the metal fabrication industry or similar commodity, and/or in a make-to-order or contract manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and experience of ERP and advanced planning systems
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, purchase orders, production schedules and procedures manuals
  • Prior planning experience and an effective written and verbal communicator
  • Highly motivated self starter, detail oriented; ability to prioritize and give effective direction to others

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently required to sit and talk or hear; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms.
