Saks Fifth Avenue is seeking an Alteration Staff member to join the tailoring team in New York. You will provide customer service and tailoring expertise, ensuring precise alterations across high-end garments.

You will uphold Saks service principles and contribute to a superior client experience during fittings. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in luxury tailoring, with the ability to work on diverse fabrics and specialty techniques.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years fitting and tailoring experience in high-end merchandise.
• Ability to fit and alter a wide range of garments.
• Strong technical background in leather, knits, beading and fine tailoring is a plus.

Responsibilities

• The Alteration Staff will be part of the tailoring team, providing customer service and tailoring expertise as required.
• Model Saks Fifth Avenue Customer Service Principles and maintain high standards of service.
• Follow all alteration workroom policies and tailoring procedures; assist during fittings.
• Use expertise to make alteration decisions during customer fittings.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and support store initiatives.
• Ad hoc responsibilities as needed; demonstrate leadership in problem solving.

• Generates a variety of approaches to problem solving including new and novel ideas WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
• Minimum 3 years fitting and tailoring experience in high-end merchandise
• Ability to fit and perform alterations on a wide range of garments
• Possession of strong technical background in specialty skills such as: leather,knits,double face,beading,fine tailoring,buttonholes etc is desired and a benefit.
• Ability to use all standard sewing, pressing & spotting equipment
• Ability to use specialty machines: Double-blind, Buttonhole, Cover-stitch, Leather
• Knowledge of Alterations industry including fabrication and styling of luxury merchandise.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Salary Range $37.22 - $46.54* Compensation for this role varies by geographic location. The listed range reflects multiple markets, including higher-cost areas. Actual starting pay will be determined based on work location, experience, and other job-related factors.
