Job description

Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment; to provide instruction and leadership of subordinate electricians in the absence of the Electrician Supervisor, and to perform related work as required.

Essential Tasks
  • Install, replace, maintain and repair electrical equipment and systems in designated County buildings and facilities, including bulbs, ballasts, circuits, receptacles, pole lights, airport runway/taxiway/apron lights, high voltage equipment, transformers, control panels, switches, photocells, remote controls, relays, contactors, etc.
  • Install pipes for network lines and other communication lines; run electrical pipes and conduit; install intercom systems.
  • Add or move various electrical fixtures.
  • Coordinate and complete electrical hookups for the Township Auditorium facility and shows.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment and systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and system problems and failures; schedule and perform repair work or parts replacement as necessary.
  • Assist supervisor in planning and coordinating major installation and maintenance projects as requested.
  • Provide training, leadership, advice and assistance to co‑workers as needed; ensure that all work orders are completed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with mechanical maintenance and repair work as needed.
  • Maintain assigned tools and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance/repair work completed using the department’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Perform all work in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations and standards of safety and quality; ensure timely completion of all assignments.
  • Attend training, workshops, meetings, etc., as necessary to enhance job knowledge and skills.
Certifications and Licenses
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • Must possess and maintain, or be able to obtain within one year of the hire date, a Master Electrician certification.
Experience Requirements

Requires at least two years of experience in the electrical field.

Physical and Dexterity Requirements

Requires medium-to-heavy work that involves walking, standing, stooping, lifting, reaching, pushing or raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis. Requires climbing and working from ladders and scaffolds.

Environmental Hazards

Potential exposure to bright/dim light, dusts and pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, extreme noise levels, vibration, fumes and/or noxious odors, moving machinery, electrical shock, heights, toxic/caustic chemicals.

Compensation

Minimum: $23.92 per hour.
