Job summary

Jetson is seeking a skilled Electrician in Columbia, MD to lead residential electrical installs for heat pump systems. You will run load calculations, upgrade panels, and manage permit and inspection processes across Maryland.

You’ll read blueprints, troubleshoot, and coordinate with HVAC crews to keep multi-trade projects moving smoothly. You should have a Master Electrician license, strong residential experience, and familiarity with modern panel technology.

Qualifications

• Master Electrician license and ability to pull permits across Maryland jurisdictions.
• Deep residential install experience, including service upgrades, panel work, and large load additions (heat pumps, EV chargers, etc.).
• Fluency in modern panel technology — smart panels (Span, Leviton, Schneider, etc.), splitters, and sub-panel configurations.
• Ability to perform accurate load calculations using standard and optional methods.
• Comfort working in older homes and navigating the surprises that come with legacy wiring.
• Experience coordinating with HVAC crews or working on multi-trade jobs.
• Solid troubleshooting instincts — you diagnose problems methodically and fix them cleanly.
• Physical stamina for hands-on residential install work.
• Follows OSHA Electrical Standard and LOTO procedures.
• Prior experience with heat pump or HVAC-related electrical installs (preferred).
• Familiarity with cold-climate heat pump systems (preferred).
• Experience on gas-to-electric conversion projects (preferred).
• Actively staying current on electrification codes and equipment trends (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Install all electrical infrastructure required to support heat pump systems — done right, on every job
• Perform load calculations and design code-compliant solutions that actually work in the real world
• Upgrade main electrical panels as needed, including smart panels, splitters, and sub-panel configurations
• Pull permits and own the inspection process end-to-end across MD jurisdictions
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams
• Troubleshoot electrical issues on-site and perform necessary repairs with speed and precision
• Coordinate with HVAC install crews and collaborate across trade lines to keep jobs moving efficiently
• Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and flag issues before they become problems
• Test electrical systems for functionality, performance, and code compliance
• Spot recurring inefficiencies in the install process and bring solutions to the team
• Maintain strict compliance with NEC and local electrical codes

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $37 - $42 per hour
