Job summary

CRH Americas Materials is seeking a Material Master Data Specialist to govern and improve material master records in SAP across procurement, manufacturing, inventory, and finance. You will ensure accuracy, completeness, and governance compliance to support enterprise processes.

The role collaborates with Shared Services, data governance, and local teams to onboard materials, maintain hierarchies, and resolve data discrepancies in a hybrid office environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (required).
• 2–5 years of experience in Material Master Data Management, Supply Chain, Procurement, or SAP Master Data.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, or similar ERP systems.
• Knowledge of material master structures and business processes.
• Experience with data analysis would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Create, update, extend, block, and deactivate material master records.
• Maintain material attributes including descriptions, material groups, units of measure, valuation data, plant data, and sales views.
• Process material master requests in accordance with SLA requirements and governance policies.
• Perform data corrections as needed.
• Monitor and maintain material master data quality standards.
• Support data cleansing, standardization, and enrichment initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with master data governance policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with local team to support material onboarding and hierarchy maintenance.
• Troubleshoot material master data issues and resolve discrepancies.
• Participate in testing and set governance standards for system enhancements.

Job Summary:

The Material Master Data Specialist is responsible for the creation, maintenance, governance, and quality of material master records within SAP and downstream sytems. This role ensures material data is accurate, complete, consistent, and compliant with established data governance standards to support procurement, manufacturing, inventory management, sales, and financial reporting processes.

• O2C (Order-to-Cash): Ensures smooth revenue processes from customer order to payment.
• R2R (Record-to-Report): Provides accurate financial reporting and robust accounting processes.
• P2P (Procure-to-Pay): Ensures timely payments to vendors and strengthens supplier relationships.
• Center of Excellence: Champions innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Material Master Maintenance

• Create, update, extend, block, and deactivate material master records.
• Maintain material attributes including descriptions, material groups, units of measure, valuation data, plant data, and sales views.
• Process material master requests in accordance with SLA requirements and governance policies.
• Perform data corrections as needed.

Data Quality & Governance

• Monitor and maintain material master data quality standards.
• Perform data validation and identify duplicate, incomplete, or inaccurate records.
• Support data cleansing, standardization, and enrichment initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with master data governance policies and procedures.

Process Support

• Collaborate with local team to support material onboarding, and hierarchy maintenance.
• Troubleshoot material master-related issues and resolve data discrepancies.
• Participate in testing and collaborate with local teams to set and enforcegovernance standards and system enhancements.

Compliance & Controls

• Adhere to internal control requirements.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation for master data changes.
• Ensure proper approvals and supporting documentation are obtained before processing requests.
• Support internal and external audits related to material master data.

Continuous Improvement

• Develop and maintain data quality reports and metrics.
• Monitor KPIs such as data accuracy, completeness, duplicate rate, and request turnaround times.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience (required).

Experience:

• 2-5 years of experience in Material Master Data Management, Supply Chain, Procurement, or SAP Master Data.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, or similar ERP systems.
• Knowledge of material master structures and business processes.
• Experience with data analysis would be an advantage

Skills:

• Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
• Understanding of data governance principles.
• Experience with workflow tools such as ServiceNow.
• Knowledge of MDM platforms (Informatica MDM or equivalent).
