Job summary

Spectrum News, a Charter Communications property, seeks a Master Control Operator to manage audio, video, captions and quality control for broadcasts. You will collaborate with the production team in a fast-paced newsroom setting.

Ideal candidates have 0–2 years of TV newsroom experience and a high school diploma; strong technical aptitude with broadcast gear, and the ability to multitask under tight deadlines, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience working in television news, 0-2 years.
• Education: High School diploma.
• Advanced knowledge of broadcast equipment and technology within assigned operating areas, including but not limited to; standard and high-definition operations, non-linear edit systems, VTRs, server-based recording/playback devices and related software applications, server networking and transfer technologies, broadcast routers, and intercom panels.
• Skills: Strong technical aptitude and experience with television control room and studio production technology, including automated on-air playout systems, newsroom editorial software, non-linear editing systems, microwave/satellite systems, bonded cellular systems, and router systems.
• Abilities: Ability to organize and manage shifting priorities under tight deadlines and in pressure situations, ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to change, push/pull/maneuver equipment up to 50lbs
• Schedule: Ability to work various shifts, longer shifts, weekends and holidays, and be flexible with schedule changes due to breaking news and severe weather emergencies

Responsibilities

• As a Master Control Operator, you will be the quality control for all technical aspects of our news and sports programming.
• You will be responsible for audio mixing, video editing, graphic design, closed captions, video quality, spelling, and more.
• Collaborate with colleagues to produce accurate, engaging, informative, and entertaining broadcasts.
• Work in a fast-paced environment that requires multitasking and readiness for issues that may arise.
