Job summary

Nexstar Broadcasting (Dallas Hub at KDAF TV) is seeking a Master Control Operator to manage on-air look across multiple stations by airing programming and scheduled breaks. This entry-level role offers training and room to grow within Nexstar's broadcasting operations.

You will update signal control systems, maintain logs, segment content for servers, monitor signal quality, and handle basic broadcast equipment. Strong English communication and office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Technical degree in Digital Electronics, Broadcasting, or a related field, or equivalent education/experience.
• Fluency in English.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Minimum three years’ experience with digital electronics systems in a television broadcasting environment (market size dependent).
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment.
• Strong PC/MS Office experience.
• Experience with digital transmitters and other broadcast-related equipment.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Updates and maintains signal control systems.
• Maintains programming logs as required by station management.
• Segments content and clips to the server and then trims and modifies it.
• Prints traffic logs and appends logs to the data management system.
• Monitors signal strength, clarity and reliability; adjusts equipment to maintain quality broadcasts.
• Selects sources from which programming will be received or transmitted.
• Reports equipment problems and ensures repairs; performs emergency repairs when necessary.
• Ensures compliance with Emergency Alert System requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The Master Control Operator is responsible for the overall on-air look of multiple television stations owned by Nexstar Broadcasting through airing programming and scheduled station breaks. • Ensures the station’s compliance with Emergency Alert System requirements
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:

• Fluency in English

• Minimum three years’ experience with digital electronics systems in a television broadcasting environment (More or less depending on market size)
