Job summary

Weigel Broadcasting Co. in Chicago, Illinois is seeking a Master Control Operator to join the Master Control Team. This role requires meticulous, self-motivated individuals to operate and control broadcast equipment and support live and taped programming.

Responsibilities include setting up and monitoring broadcast systems, handling on-air switching, managing satellite feeds, and assisting with newscasts and multi-platform content. Evening/ weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of experience in broadcast or video production.
• Proficient in computer applications, including word processing and database software.
• Hands-on experience with television equipment operation, automation systems, and tape and disk-based video servers.
• Working knowledge of satellite controllers, video waveform monitors, vectorscopes, master control switching and routing systems.
• Proven ability to perform accurately and efficiently under pressure of television operations control.
• Developed and displayed responsible work habits with minimal supervision.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Master Control Operator

What You’ll Do

• Set up, operate, and control television broadcast equipment
• Monitor television broadcast equipment to transmit television programs and commercials to viewing audience

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $20-$23 an hour. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
