Department Summary

Aultman North Therapy is an outpatient facility that houses a wide range of services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, pelvic floor therapy, aquatic therapy, and massage therapy. It is a busy, fast paced clinic that also shares space with cardiac rehabilitation and a fitness facility. The massage therapy room is in a more private, quiet hallway allowing the clients to experience a calming, relaxed experience.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of massage therapy program in good standing with the Ohio State Medical Board.
  • Current and valid Ohio state license to practice massage therapy.
  • Certificate from Ohio State Medical Board authorizing practice as a massage therapist.
  • Obtain and maintain current American Heart Association (AHA) training in Basic Life Support (BLS) utilizing Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) is required.
  • Experience as a professional massage therapist is preferred.

Responsibilities & Expectations
  • In collaboration with the client, Identifies the desired outcomes of care and develops a massage therapy strategy to achieve those outcomes.
  • Collects appropriate client health history to ensure safety and effectiveness of interventions.
  • Keeps the UD informed of any significant problems or concerns.
  • Strives to meet client needs and responds constructively to client complaints.
  • Orients new personnel to policies, forms and documentation requirements.
  • Provides peer review of job performance of co-workers on a regular basis.
  • Assists with the quality improvement program by reviewing, recommending or implementing quality improvement processes as needed or as directed.
  • Assists with compliance of facility operations with federal, state and local rules and regulations.
  • Consistently communicates with all patients, families, customers and other personnel in a professional, respectful and courteous manner.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in meeting the needs of the program and responds positively to changes in workflow.
  • Promotes teamwork by demonstrating willingness to assist others in meeting the needs of all individuals within the scope of practice and collaborating effectively with the interdisciplinary team and other departments throughout the organization.

  • Completes annual competency requirements.

Department Responsibilities & Expectations
  • Assist therapy desk by accepting payment from clients and provide receipt.
  • Maintain organized file on each client.
  • Clean and sanitize the massage therapy table and room in between clients.
  • Manage clean laundry pars with therapy staff.
  • Empty full dirty laundry bins to the designated area.
Working Conditions
  • Hours of operation with shifts as assigned including occasional overtime, on‑call or off‑shifts (evenings and/or weekends) scheduled as necessary.
  • Lunch and break periods must be coordinated with other staff members to maintain adequate staffing during facility hours of operation.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day.
  • Subject to emergency and other crisis situations
  • Performing patient care responsibilities as required.
Hazardous Exposure Category

Category II - Includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks. The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues by exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment. Appropriate protective measures will be readily available to every employee engaged in Category II tasks.
