Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking an experienced practitioner to support the Serenity Station program within Employee Health, Safety and Wellbeing. You will provide chair massage, Reiki energy work, and mindfulness sessions to reduce stress and educate staff across Connecticut facilities.

The role requires CT Licensed Massage Therapist status, Reiki certification, mindfulness/meditation training, and the ability to work day and evening shifts.

Qualifications

• Hold a Connecticut license as a Massage Therapist and be certified in Reiki (Level 2 or Master).
• Formal training or certification in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) or related mindfulness techniques.
• MHFA and/or QPR Suicide Prevention Training preferred; must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Additional Certificate in Energy Medicine preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide chair massage services to facilitate relaxation and stress reduction.
• Conduct Reiki healing sessions to promote energy balance and resiliency.
• Lead mindfulness exercises and guided meditation sessions tailored to employee needs; educate on self-help techniques and other wellbeing resources.

As part of Employee Health, Safety and Wellbeing, this position is responsible for supporting the Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) Serenity Station program for employees by providing chair massage therapy, Reiki (energy work) services and/or mindfulness/meditation practice. The goal of the Serenity Station program is to create a healing environment that facilitates stress reduction, while also educating employees on additional YNHHS resources that support ongoing emotional and physical wellbeing. The position requires a deep understanding of the body-mind connection and a passion for total-person wellness.

Responsibilities

• Provide appropriate, safe and effective chair massage services to facilitate physical relaxation and stress reduction.
  • Conduct appropriate health evaluation on participants prior to session; Determine if there are any contraindications for massage therapy and/or customize treatment plans based on client health histories, conditions, and preferences.
  • Observe participant reaction to massage and modify as necessary; Obtain feedback from participant and respond accordingly.
• Conduct Reiki healing sessions to promote energy balance, decrease stress and increase resiliency.
  • Stays up-to-date with current techniques and trends energy healing, CAM, and holistic wellness.
  • Identify and provide education of self-help techniques for sustained physical and emotional wellbeing; makes recommendations to drive engagement into additional YNHHS wellbeing programs/services
  • May assist Wellbeing Program Supervisor with administrative duties related to Serenity Station Program
• Lead employees through mindfulness exercises and guided meditation sessions tailored to the needs of the individual.
  • Teach techniques such as mindfulness meditation, body scans, breathing exercises, and relaxation methods to facilitate a mind-body connection.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of mindfulness practices and research to ensure offerings are evidence-based.
  • Collaborate with and refer employees into internal YNHHS programs that support mental and physical health include Employee and Family Resources (EFR), Health Coaching, Fitness Center and other available resources for wellbeing.

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma with completion of a program of study from an accredited school of Massage Therapy.
• Must be licensed and certified in Massage Therapy in the state of Connecticut Certified Reiki Practitioner (Level 2 or Master) from an accredited institution.
• Additional Certificate in Energy Medicine preferred.
• Formal training or certification in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), guided meditation, or related mindfulness techniques.
• Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and/or QPR Suicide Prevention Training preferred; must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Knowledge of other complementary wellness modalities including but not limited to yoga, acupressure, aromatherapy, or sound healing preferred but not required.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Licensed Massage Therapist.
• Minimum of two years of experience providing Reiki services, preferably in an institutional/ healthcare setting.
• Minimum 1 year of experience providing mindfulness/guided meditation practice; preferred experience in a healthcare or corporate setting.

Licensure

• CT Licensed Massage Therapist; Certified Reiki Practitioner (Level 2 or Master) from an accredited institution; Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Certification preferred. Valid Driver's License
