Job summary

Insight Global seeks a Mass Properties Engineer in Greenville, TX to support modification programs across a diverse aircraft fleet. You will perform weight and balance analyses, CG calculations, and mass moments of inertia using CAD data and aircraft records.

Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years in aircraft mass properties / weight & balance.
  • Experience with fixed-wing aircraft (military or commercial).
  • Strong background in weight & balance analysis, CG, mass moments of inertia.
  • Experience with aircraft modifications and configuration changes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel for large datasets and calculations.
  • Experience with engineering drawings and CAD models (NX, CATIA, Teamcenter).

Responsibilities

  • Lead or participate in mass properties analysis for fixed-wing modification programs.
  • Perform weight, CG, and MOI calculations using CAD models and aircraft records.
  • Evaluate impact of concurrent modifications on weight and balance.
  • Develop and maintain mass distributions to support loads and structural analysis.
  • Establish and manage weight control plans and reporting for active programs.
  • Prepare weight charts, inventories, and certified weight records; support weighings.

Duration: 12-month contract to hire

Required Skills & Experience:
  • 7-10+ years of experience in aircraft mass properties / weight & balance
  • Experience supporting fixed-wing aircraft (military or commercial)
  • Strong background in: weight & balance analysis,
  • CG calculations, mass moments of inertia, aircraft modifications and/or configuration changes
  • Ability to work in a multi-program, deadline-driven environment (NOT just isolated OEM work)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (large datasets, calculations, tracking)
  • Experience working with engineering drawings and CAD models (NX, CATIA, Teamcenter, etc.)
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
Job Description:

An employer in Greenville, TX is seeking a Mass Properties Engineer to join a highly collaborative Aeronautical team supporting modification programs across a diverse fleet of aircraft, ranging from business jets to large wide-body platforms.

This individual will play a critical role in weight and balance analysis, aircraft mass distribution, and weight control planning while supporting multiple concurrent programs. The right candidate thrives in a fast-paced, IPT-driven environment, balancing technical accuracy with execution speed to meet program deadlines.

This is a hands-on role with time split between engineering analysis and aircraft hangar/flight line activity. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead (if applicable to candidates YOE) or participate in mass properties analysis and weight control efforts for fixed-wing aircraft modification programs
  • Perform weight, center of gravity (CG), and mass moment of inertia calculations using CAD models, engineering drawings, and aircraft records
  • Evaluate the impact of multiple concurrent modifications on aircraft weight and balance
  • Develop and maintain mass distributions to support loads and structural analysis
  • Establish and manage weight control plans, allocations, and reporting for active programs
  • Prepare weight charts, aircraft inventories, and certified weight records
  • Support and participate in aircraft weighings and flight line activities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with structures, loads, design, manufacturing, and flight test teams
  • Support multiple programs simultaneously, prioritizing deliverables based on schedule and program needs
  • Assist with bids, engineering estimates, and labor forecasting
Compensation:

$60/hr to $70/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
