Job summary

Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA) seeks a Masonry & Tile Technician II to install and repair brick, block, stone, and tile surfaces in NRHA properties in Norfolk, VA. The role emphasizes precise tile setting, surface preparation, and safe, clean workmanship.

Under the Building Maintenance Superintendent, you will measure, cut, grout, and lay tiles with attention to quality and safety, ensuring HUD/PHAS standards are met. A valid driver's license and masonry experience required.

Qualifications

• High school education with a vocational education program in building maintenance.
• One to three years of progressively responsible experience in residential masonry, tile and concrete installation work.
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience necessary to obtain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Primarily performs masonry and tile installation taskings.
• Build and repair walls, partitions, and structures using brick, block, and natural stone.
• Cut and set ceramic, porcelain, or stone tiles on floors, walls, and ceilings with accurate alignment.
• Use hand tools, wet saws, and grinders to shape bricks and tiles to fit tight spaces.
• Performs minor plumbing preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements as needed.
• Monitors and assures regulatory compliance and satisfactory HUD/PHAS indicators.
