Job summary

Poulin | Willey is seeking a Pre-Litigation Lawyer to join our growing personal injury team in Maryland. The role provides legal oversight, strategic direction, and risk assessment during early case development, requiring an active Maryland Bar license in good standing.

You will evaluate liability, damages, and insurance coverage while guiding the Foundation team and pursuing early settlements when appropriate.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
Active license and Maryland bar membership in good standing.
Experience in pre-litigation, litigation, insurance defense, or claims strategy.
Excellent negotiation, communication and client relationship skills.
Strong knowledge of personal injury law, insurance coverage, liability, damages and UM/UIM claims.

Responsibilities

Provide legal oversight and strategic direction during early case development.
Evaluate liability and damages to maximize client outcomes.
Advise Foundation team on case strategy, documentation and evidence collection.
Review policies, UM/UIM claims, liens, and coverage issues affecting value.
Monitor medical treatment and timing of demand, negotiation or litigation.
Maintain client communication and deliver timely attorney guidance.
Pursue opportunities for early settlement and determine transition to litigation.
Monitor statutes and deadlines to ensure compliance.
Collaborate with leadership to improve workflows and case results.
