Job summary

Connecticut Natural Gas Corporation is seeking a Union CNG: Markout Representative in East Hartford, CT. The role focuses on reading maps, locating underground facilities, operating mark-out equipment, and ensuring safe vehicle operation.

On-call duties are part of the job, with opportunities to guide helpers and assist other distribution staff. Candidates should have two or more years in the distribution field, be able to read drawings, perform basic arithmetic, and possess a CT driver's

Qualifications

• Two+ years of experience in the Distribution Department with training in locating gas facilities or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write and speak English effectively.
• Able to perform simple arithmetic calculations accurately and read mechanical drawings.
• Must have mechanical aptitude and a reasonable level of strength and agility.
• Knowledge of the distribution system and operation of Distribution Division equipment and tools.

Responsibilities

Job description

POSITION – Union CNG: Markout Representative

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1

LOCATION: CNG - CT - East Hartford - Meadow St

RATE RANGE: $43.20 - $50.63

Responsibilities

• Reads, interprets and understands Distribution maps and records concerning the location of underground facilities.
• Operates, cleans and reports any repairs concerning mark-out equipment.
• Accurately locates and marks out underground facilities related to Distribution operations, as required.
• Makes sketches of existing facilities not recorded, or incorrectly recorded, on the Distribution records.
• Is responsible for the safe operation of company vehicle.
• Complete on-call responsibilities during on-call rotation.
• When not marking out underground facilities assists in other duties of the Distribution Division.
• Directs the work of one or more helpers, as required.
• Assists other Distribution employees in proper use of mark-out equipment, as required.

Skills and Requirements

• Must have knowledge of the distribution system and understand the construction and operation of Distribution Division equipment and tools with two (2) or more years experience in the Distribution Department with included training and experience in locating gas facilities or equivalent.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English effectively.
• Must be able to make simple arithmetic calculations accurately; have training and be able to read mechanical drawings and be able to keep records.
• Must have mechanical aptitude and a reasonable amount of strength and agility.
• Must have knowledge of the distribution system and understand the construction and operation of Distribution Division equipment and tools.
• Must have a Connecticut driver's license and experience in driving motor vehicles.
• Must be able to work independently, with a minimum of supervision.
