Job description

Role: Marketing Team Lead (Content & PLG)
Location: US (preferably NY, SF) or London (if candidates have US work experience)

Background to OpenOrigins

OpenOrigins is building a global trust layer for the internet’s media content, ensuring we can always tell what is real and what is fake.

As low-cost, highly-convincing synthetic media saturates the internet, it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish between real and fake online content, threatening our understanding of reality and facilitating disinformation. OpenOrigins believes content provenance is the solution, achieved through decentralised trust.

We secure future content by recording proof of origin in our blockchain for new media, and safeguard archives in the same blockchain. We are also exploring licensing our secured, provably-human archives to AI companies for trusted model training.

Founded in 2021, we are venture-backed and preparing to scale rapidly to address this challenge.

Our co-founders, Mansoor Ahmed-Rengers and Ari Abelson, have extensive experience in blockchain, cybersecurity, and scaling startups.

About the role

We seek a visionary Marketing Lead to tell OpenOrigins' story and establish it as a leader in blockchain, digital provenance & authenticity. You will refine our brand, position our product, and drive demand. Your responsibilities include:

  1. Shaping our category-defining brand and ensuring consistent identity across channels.
  2. Collaborating with leadership and sales to develop and execute growth and marketing strategies.
  3. Managing all aspects of growth marketing, from digital channels to community and field marketing, ensuring a cohesive approach.
  4. Working with Product and GTM teams to position OpenOrigins for market leadership.
  5. Establishing KPIs, analyzing campaign performance, and providing insights to optimize strategies and ROI.
  6. Building a high-performing, collaborative, results-driven marketing team.

Who are you

You are ambitious, hardworking, and succeed through intelligence, grit, and a growth mindset, even if you lack experience in some areas.

  • You have a strong background in product marketing, especially for complex technical products (blockchain experience is a plus but not mandatory).
  • You are an outstanding communicator—verbal, written, and presentation skills—and can articulate complex concepts clearly.
  • You are entrepreneurial, eager to build a business, and motivated to grow faster or earn more than in a traditional career. You're willing to do whatever is needed.
  • You have hands-on experience in multi-channel demand generation, designing and executing successful marketing campaigns quickly.
  • You possess expert knowledge of marketing best practices and have a network of creative, technology, and media partners/vendors.
  • You have experience managing agencies and in-house teams, working cross-functionally to achieve results, and are comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
  • You have a track record of exceptional performance in any field—academia, sports, work, or otherwise.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • We prioritize ability, motivation, and aptitude over experience alone. Background is important but not the sole criterion.
  • Ideal candidates have 3-7 years in growth, demand generation, or marketing roles, with a strong foundation in digital & product marketing and brand building.
  • Experience in seed-stage startups, scaling from $0 to $1M revenue, is preferred.
