The Position
The Marketing Specialist II performs professional-level public information, marketing and digital communications work in support of Citywide programs, services, projects and initiatives. The position develops and implements communications campaigns; creates and manages digital, print and multimedia content; supports the City's website and social media platforms; assists with media relations and emergency communications; and works collaboratively with City departments to communicate timely, accurate and accessible information to the public.
Under general direction of the Marketing Manager, the position manages assigned communications projects and serves as a professional communications resource to City departments. This position exercises no direct supervision but may provide technical and functional direction to City staff, contractors and vendors.

Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this classification. An example would be:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license.
The applicant selected will be subject to a criminal history investigation through the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and a thorough background check. A waiver for reference and background information must be completed.
City of Santee employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the City requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
First review of applications may occur the week of October 26, 2026. Panel interview is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, November 18, 2026. Selection interview is TBD. The City may change these testing and interview dates at its discretion due to departmental staffing and operational needs.
