Job description

Our client, a Fashion Accessories brand, is seeking an experienced Marketing Director who can set the strategic direction for all marketing efforts including owning the marketing calendar that brings that strategy to life across every channel and season. This role leads and develops a cross‑functional marketing team, partners with outside agencies, and is accountable for hitting sales goals efficiently across paid, owned, and earned channels — including paid search, paid social, direct mail, and email/SMS. The Director of Marketing is also responsible for marketing financials and operations, including process design and workflow strategy. This role reports to the CEO.

  • Please note that this is a hybrid position working Monday through Thursday in their Santa Barbara office.
  • The company will offer a small relocation allowance for someone to move if they need to be within driving distance of the office.
  • The salary range for this role is $150-165,000 based on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and manage the e-commerce marketing calendar to ensure maximum efficiency to drive revenue, enhance brand awareness, and extend brand reach and relevance.
  • Coordinate the broader Marketing team to execute all campaigns on time and on budget.
  • Own the advertising and site P&L and be responsible for hitting sales goals and budgeting advertising spend.
  • Develop best-in-class seasonal and promotional strategies to meet and exceed goals.
  • Directly manage and develop the marketing team (3-5 direct reports) through clear goalsetting, regular coaching, and performance management that grows their skills and expands their scope over time.
  • Lead paid media and direct mail strategy (via in-house team or outside agencies) by managing content strategy, spend, segmentation, and ultimately driving successful KPIs based on target ROAS and TACoS.
  • Lead the owned channel (email/SMS) marketing strategy, day-to-day management, annual budgets, and revenue goals.
  • Leverage customer segment insights to develop and optimize campaigns and automation that drive engagement, repeat purchases and overall revenue.
  • Own the strategic direction for organic social and influencer/creator partnerships in order to build brand awareness and complement paid social performance.
  • Direct the ecommerce site roadmap and performance strategy — prioritizing UX improvements, determining appropriate ecommerce technology investments, and holding the team accountable to key metrics like conversion rate, AOV, LTV, and site speed.
  • Evaluate emerging channels and digital trends and provide recommendations for adoption that will result in efficient ROI while maintaining brand integrity.
  • Provide weekly/monthly/quarterly executive summaries for paid and owned channel initiatives and programs.
  • Make recommendations to adjust in-season plans as necessary to meet forecast goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience (8+ years) managing all key business functions described above in an ecommerce environment
  • 5+ years directly managing and developing a marketing team, with proven ability to hire, coach, and grow direct reports — setting clear goals, providing regular feedback and performance management, and creating growth paths that increase team members’ scope and impact over time
  • Deep affinity for managing and growing people; you measure your own success by the growth of the people you lead and invest real time in mentorship and career development
  • Demonstrated success at growing an ecommerce, direct marketing, or omni-channel retail business through business and technical innovation – ideally with experience in both strategy development and operational execution
  • Strong understanding of managing external advertising agencies and ROI focused paid media
  • Experience driving revenue forecasts and needed budget at given ROI targets to achieve profitable growth using historical, seasonal and other types of data
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, spanning multiple go-to-market seasons at one time, prioritizing effectively
  • Proven expertise in using data and analytics to develop strategies and action plans
  • Proactively seeks out resources to learn and find solutions at a rapid pace
