Job summary

Energy Solutions in Chicago seeks an experienced Marketing Communications professional to collaborate with the Senior Marketing Manager to develop annual marketing and outreach strategies that drive program participation, stakeholder engagement, and customer acquisition. You will translate goals into clear messaging and coordinate across multiple audiences.

The role includes planning communications calendars, creating assets, and supporting events, webinars, and campaigns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Public Relations, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting the development and execution of communications strategies, marketing plans, and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • Experience managing multiple communications projects and coordinating deliverables across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, including translating technical and regulatory concepts into clear messaging for audiences.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and familiarity with email marketing and social media platforms.
  • Experience in digital marketing and analytics; familiarity with tools like Google Analytics.
  • Experience supporting utility, renewable energy, sustainability, climate, or clean energy programs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Senior Marketing Manager to develop annual marketing and communications strategies that support program participation, stakeholder engagement, and customer acquisition.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Marketing Manager to translate program goals, priorities, and stakeholder needs, based on advisement and approval of program leadership and outreach teams.
  • Develop and maintain marketing plans and outreach approaches, based on established systems, that support strategic program objectives and participation goals.
  • Coordinate and deliver stakeholder communications, ensuring timely, accurate, and effective messaging across multiple audiences.
  • Develop and maintain communications calendars and communication channel strategies across email, direct mail, web, social media, and digital platforms.
  • Create, review, and refine messaging to ensure technical and regulatory information is communicated clearly and effectively for target audiences.
  • Develop announcements, collateral, case studies, customer testimonials, social media content, webinars, training materials, and other communication assets.
  • Collaborate with program subject matter experts and stakeholders to research, develop, and maintain relevant program content.
  • Support initiatives that enhance Energy Solutions’ brand awareness, market presence, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Serve as a liaison between outreach partners and program leadership to align outreach activities with program objectives, escalating stakeholder needs to Senior Manager when changes in messaging, tactics, or priorities are necessary.
  • Coordinate and support virtual and in-person stakeholder events, outreach campaigns, educational forums, and engagement activities.
  • Gather and communicate stakeholder feedback, insights, and lessons learned to support continuous improvement of outreach and communications efforts.
  • Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, solar vendors, community organizations, and internal teams to support program growth and participation.
  • Coordinate communication deliverables, timelines, and stakeholder needs across multiple concurrent projects and initiatives.
  • Track and communicate project status, communication activities, and stakeholder engagement outcomes to program leadership.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve communication processes, stakeholder engagement strategies, and content development practices.
  • Maintain documentation, communication assets, and marketing resources in accordance with program standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance communication effectiveness and program participation outcomes.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of marketing communications best practices across email, social media, web, public relations, and stakeholder communications
  • Demonstrated organization, project management, time management, prioritization, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to proactively identify opportunities, solve problems, and develop creative communication solutions
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across departments and with external stakeholders
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and familiarity with email marketing and social media platform
  • Master's degree in marketing , Communications, Business Administration, Public Relations, or a related discipline
  • Digital marketing certifications (Google Analytics, Google Ads, HubSpot, Hootsuite, or similar).
  • Professional certifications in marketing, communications, content strategy, or public relations.
  • Experience supporting utility, renewable energy, sustainability, climate, or clean energy programs.
  • Experience developing communications for regulated industries or government-sponsored initiatives.
  • Experience planning and coordinating stakeholder events, public meetings, webinars, workshops, or outreach campaigns.
  • Experience working with community-based organizations, contractors, vendors, or public-sector stakeholders
  • Familiarity with solar energy, renewable energy, energy efficiency, or incentive program concepts
  • Experience with email marketing platforms such as MailChimp, Constant Contact, HubSpot, or similar systems
  • Familiarity with website content management systems and digital analytics tools
  • Knowledge of communication performance measurement, stakeholder engagement metrics, and campaign effectiveness reporting
  • Experience developing brand messaging frameworks, communication toolkits, and stakeholder-facing resources
  • The salary range for this role is $85,000-$115,000/annually with a target range of $85,000- $97,750/annually.
