Job summary

MillerKnoll in Indianapolis seeks a Market Development Executive to drive revenue in an assigned territory by coordinating with local dealers and the broader MillerKnoll sales team. Markets will typically have less specialized selling support, so this role serves the entire market and collaborates with influencers in A&D, Real Estate, Design and Project Management to increase specifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of successful contract or capital goods selling experience, preferably including experience as a dealer direct salesperson.
  • Advanced selling skills: qualify prospects, lead generation, new business development, account penetration, strategic selling, consultative selling, negotiation and contracts.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with ability to collaborate and influence.
  • Innovative, self-starter who represents MillerKnoll professionally to gain trust.
  • Ability to travel and perform other job duties as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts all sales activities and processes within the MillerKnoll sales process, leveraging local dealers and the broader sales team.
  • Works strategically with the sales team to provide opportunities where more specialized help is needed.
  • Monitors market conditions, product innovations, and competitors’ offerings; informs forecasts and resourcing needs.
  • Maintains Salesforce CRM information to enable accurate monthly forecasts by account and product line.

Position Description

The Market Development Executive is responsible for driving revenue in an assigned territory and/or market by working with both the local dealer and broader MillerKnoll sales team. These markets will typically have less specialized selling support. Therefore, the Market Development Executive role serves the entire market and/or territory, helping drive business through the dealers, providing support to current customers, working with influencers in the A&D, Real Estate, Design, Project Management communities to increase specifications, and pursuing new accounts.

What You'll Do....
  • Conducts all sales activities and processes within the parameters of the MillerKnoll sales process, utilizing corporate tools/resources provided, including: driving sales through their local/most proximate dealer; providing support to current customers; unlocking new business opportunities in smaller markets
  • Works strategically with sales team across MillerKnoll to provide opportunities where more specialized help needed
  • Monitors market conditions, product innovations and competitors’ products, prices and sales; keeps RSDs/AVPs up-to-date on latest happenings in these smaller markets to help inform future resourcing plans and needs
  • Maintains Salesforce (CRM) information so RSD can accurately complete monthly forecasts of expected sales volume by account, product line, etc.
What You Bring...
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of successful contract or capital goods selling experience, preferably including experience as a dealer direct salesperson.
  • Advanced selling skills, e.g. qualify prospects, lead generation, new business development, account penetration, strategic selling, conceptual selling, issues-based selling, consultative selling, negotiation and contracts (closing).
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to collaborate and influence.
  • Innovative, self-starter with the self- confidence and ability to represent MillerKnoll in a professional, ethical manner to gain a high level of confidence.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment, at all levels of the organization and able to build long term relationships with customers/partners.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication ability with strong emphasis on listening.
  • Demonstrated high personal performance standards, the desire and ability to continuously learn and must be results-oriented.
  • Expertise within a dealer environment with sales planning capabilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of MillerKnoll products, services and culture, as well as the ability to distinguish MillerKnoll products/services from the competition.
  • Ability to travel and perform other job duties as needed.
